where is everyone ? stephen just out of interest... how much is it for the tweed over in the US ?

not sure where everyones at, maybe in bed? :D

i think the price would depend on the location & friends you have to be honest. maybe he'll chime in.

I'm still up. Been sniffing solder fumes again. I had fun tonight though, I had the time to do some tweaks on one of my own amps. I do dare say that the results are awesome, at least at volumes that will keep the neighbors happy at this hour. I've got a hunch that this one is gonna kill cranked.

i love divine aha moments like that - truely makes all that work worth every second.

im thinking once i get this rig built - i might have the will-power to tackle designing my prototype preamp. only downside are the relays and MIDI

Do eeet man. That switching stuff can be a headache for sure. I personally prefer single channel amps, my hand/foot coordination sucks, might be why I suck at playing drums. ;) I'm all about clean to mean with the volume knob on the guitar. Set the amp and forget it, all I need is the toggle switch, volumes and tones.

i give props to anyone that can play a 7 string - let alone an 8 string

i get lost on the fretboard - im too used to the chord structures of 6 strings

that guitar will be amazing - truely one of a kind. great job
wrong thread? :D

yeah after i get my new rig together i will sit down and really invest time/money into it. if people are loving the proto 5150 then im sure the prototype preamp will be popular considering the things me and you were talking about after i made this decision.

dude - im really interested to hear clips of the natas from mike. i've heard that it will be his beast-metal-amp and is voiced differently from the meathead clips that were posted.

TBH - i didnt like the meathead tones i was hearing. i think mike's mods sounded better. all of the amplifiers sound different to the tone im chasing so i doubt ill crave anything - but i still cant wait :)

Most of the clips I've heard of the bones sound very nice, his stuff has a very cool "edge" to it that I really dig. As a fellow tech (I say this loosely, Mike may very well have forgotten more than I know) I can say that going by the gut shots that Mike posted of his amps he builds them right. Not all pcb amps suck in terms of build quality, he uses good stuff in the right places.

i gotta give it to him, he knows what he is doing

Damn!!! Is that the meathead?

I just ordered the Carl Roa DVD and he is playing the bones in it. The cool thing about the bones is all the different tones. Kinda Plexi, then smooth lead, then metal...

I just wish it wasn't so spendy, so I am thinking about buying a JMP to mod. Mike has been emailin me. He is very informative....and cool. But I think with his contour mod you can get what I mentioned.

yeah that is mike's beast.

someone here on the forum has ordered one - already put half down. i cant remember who it is?

yeah i like his mods a little better for some reason. again i dont really prefer any of the models i have heard yet. not being a douche, just not my tone preference.

he still knows what he is doing - mad props from one tech to another. i cant imagine the PLC programming of that thing - unbelievable. i know he outsourced the code or the board itself to someone. cant remember. still an amazing work of art.

I had to get up this morning ..... it was dead at 1am here ... so I went to bed.

$250 ~$320 a oz.(28 grams) $300 is normal. 3 grams $40. But the tweed in the north west is very good. We see a lot of Canadian bud around here. $150 / 200 a oz for Mexican (seed tweed) in most of the country. Very little comes from Mexico ..... they just call it that. It is grown in the south in places like Tennessee. In the last 5 years I have seen any where from $1000 to $3200 a pound depending on the grade and who you know. When I was a teenager I could get a oz for $15.

Meathead or Natas is next on my list. I well need to dump a few things to pull that off.

I have had a few conversations with Mike and this is very much the case. The transformers he uses are awesome.

Never judge a amp by clips .... it well give you a raw idea of what it can do. But has little to do with what it is like in the same room.
