How come no Mesa thread in the MFR's Section?

He posts on FB, but mostly just having to do with his amps, bands using his amps, his dogs and golf/driving range
Makes sense. FB users have more control over their page than users posting on a random forum.

There is a minty late build EL34 MCII 100 on TGP ATM.

Very tempting.

I saw it yesterday....and I would like an el34 MCII to go with my KT88. lol

I thought you were done buying used though?

Well.....hard to believe what they're asking for Vintage Mesa Marks ATM.

The last one I bought was in 2018, a MKIV Rev A EV powered combo for a grand and pennies. Same age and close to serial number as my number 1 I bought back in 1992, and still have. Can't seem to touch them now for over $2K, and they're often beat to $h!t.

Really curious to see how Mesa does under Gibson ownership. Hope they don't repeat their past.

Had the JP2C and didn't care for it. Was not expecting it to sound like something else. But even though I didn't think it was a bad sounding amp, it just didn't have the presence and cut-thur-the-mix no matter where I set the controls, or speaker configuration. Surprising and disappointing at the same time. I even tried a quad of Mesa STR 415's from my personal stash. I could just not get out of it what I wanted to hear.......oh well.

I really hope I'm wrong on this, but my gut tells me Mesa's best days are past them not to return.
Im talking 79 /early 80`s most expensive amp on the planet. Also did you know a san Dimas fender headstock charvel was around 1250 in 1980 you talkn high dollar.

Pretty much yes.....but the guy selling is very straight up. He's bought and unloaded some very nice, well taken care of amps. His pictures showed all the things I'm looking for on at least the outside of the amp. Plus, he's in MS. Not far from TX.

Ya, I got fed up for awhile (past couple of years) with the stuff for sale on that board. It was so damned hard for me to get info from sellers. So many of them selling stuff they barely had a clue about. Plus, lots of things you could get new for almost what they were asking for theirs. I don't hold it against them getting all they can for their stuff, but when there's only $100-$500 difference in new, plus clueless sellers, it just doesn't maken sense to me to risk the exposure of used for almost new price. I had a couple of TGP deals that didn't work out. I blame myself for not asking enough questions. Although, I didn't think I'd have to based on how the seller presented themselves at first. I really don't like asking people almost dumb questions. Again, my fault for lack of due diligence.

My best TGP deal was an even trade my MC25 for Velcro Fly's Matchless Laurel Canyon. Even though the new MC25's list for more than the new LC's. IT was still worth it to me. I was hardly ever using the MC25. Since getting the LC, I use it a lot.

Very few sellers I've run into as good as you and Steve/Velcro Fly. Although I've never bought from you, I know I wouldn't have a problem. You always seem to have very nice, well taken care of gear. You give good descriptions, and familiar with what you're selling. Your price is always fair.

I'm sure their are other good ones, I just need to meet them.

Yes.....I've got a MKI from 1981. Back in the day it WAS expensive. A lot of people called me a dumbass at the time for buying it.

Glad I held on to it now.

If it had white piping, I might have made an offer on it. It's still priced much higher than I'd pay for a used one, albeit one that new.

Those subforums were originally designed for the little guy (small builders) as a place to get answers to specific questions. Originally, part of the deal was that you (small builder) would then also need to monitor that subform and answer questions. I don't think any of that is happening any more but I know Dave Friedman and Bruce Egnater were active at one point, for example.
Larry's quite active in the Larry subforum ?

Thank you for bringing that up. You know the Wizards much better than I.

What would you pay for it?

Yup.....that was a lot of money then. Of course $1,250 today is a lot of money if you don't have it.

Ah......them were the days.

I wish we could go back in time.

@espquade just bought 2 MC2s (one 100w el34 and one 75w KT88) on reverb for $4,300 each (plus tax). Plus a guy recently had an ARD badged MC2 on TGP that was down to about $4k when it sold. I think the ARD badging hurt the resale value though

Thanks Brother, and for the record - anyone reading this needs to know that Terry aka tlp1234 is absolutely one of the good guys. I got my original Wizard footswitch from mhenson42 too....

Yeah that was as solid a deal as I've ever done too, as well as the most over the top pack job I've ever done.....sheeeeit that's worthy of its own thread hahah

So now that I've had 3 (!!!) different Wizard MC25's I can say that they all have their own little thing going on... #1 from the original run seems a shade more aggressive; #2 seems a bit smoother and has all the updates; #3 from you is in between, has all circuit updates except Black Cat mod, but it has a 4ohm speaker tap the others didn't have....All three sound killer either way you look at it....

You might really like the Carol Ann stuff...for sure its a Marshall meets Dumble kind of thing

I suspect a Morris Perplexed will find its way here in the next month or so, as soon as Jason gets bored with it hahaha....that's one I'm looking forward to

That was the most meticulously designed nuke-proof shipping box I've ever seen......ever.

I saved it in my garage. I call it Steve's Military Grade Boutique Shipping Container.

It is pretty much nuke proof, and hot glued together, zero tape! It was also a really expensive amp that was getting shipped, I wasn't willing to take any chances and would do it just like that all over again. Classic.

Same here :giggle:
Always reading through the forum, at least 3 times every week.
Writing or replying/quoting only if definitely required.
Everybody here knows the reason, why meanwhile I'm only occasionally writing ?
But nonethelee I like, what you all are writing ?

I appreciate your kind words about my music larry! Thanks for making the great tones possible:cool:

most mesa floating around need basic service.... thats why i'm still alarmed at the going rate of the III's. most of them need $150 in parts plus a steady, knowlegeable hand inside to get them to where they should be. but they're worth it, cuz they're the best!!!
MK 3 are amazing ! But the prices are ridiculous atm . Now you got to sit forever to get the right price
