How consistent are your ears?

Not sure if any of these devices do this but it would be cool if they could do assignable voltages and cycles to different outlets. Standard solid 120, 117 for older gear, even have 230-240 available for gear from other countries….of course without costing 10K 😁.

I used to have a ton of problems with consistently hearing same thing. Everyone talks about wall voltage, working heat, aliens, etc.

All that is fine and well. The best trick i have found was given to me from @MGL AmpWorks
I wanted a single channel, but he gave me an extra volume in lieu of a clean channel. What i do is have one master that is practicing volume. The other is playing volume. THIS is what I EQ my amp to. This cannot be overstated.

Changes in your master are going to greatly affect what you hear in your tone stack. If you are not consistent with the volume, you will be grabbing the eq to hear what you think you need to. Then you change the volume and it is off.

The amp needs to be breathing fire for you to know how it sounds

This is why all the bedroom players love amps and pedals with too much bass/low end response to record or gig with.

Wampler, JHS, and a couple other builders have rode the Fletcher-Munson curve all the way to the bank off of bedroom guys who pretend they can replicate the sounds they hear on records at stepdad volumes. And it was a wise move to get a big market share... maybe not the best move as far as street cred with musicians, but I'm sure their bank accounts aren't complaining.

I dialed in some awesome tone on Saturday night. Sunday I had to tell the wife that I had to run to the cave for a few minutes to make sure my ears weren’t messing with me. Fortunately it still sounded good.

My ears change a lot. On Saturday I was rocking out and really diggimg my tone. After about 2.5 hours, everything quickly turned into a muddy mess. That was probably fatigue. On Friday, everything sounded like shit until after about an hour. IDK.
