How do you guys store your guitars in your house?

I have one out on a regular stand that I use.

The others are in cases in a closet. They are easily accessible. I can grab and go. I know which is in each case because most of them have airline tags on them. ;)

^ it can be, but it's much less of an issue for solid bodies. If you're worried, a room humidifier isn't terribly expensive.
It doesn't matter if it's a solid body or not as the neck is going to change the playability of a guitar more so than changes with the body. Fretboards can shrink when it's dry and fret ends will begin to stick out. Quite often humidity has a significant effect on neck relief which has the potential to drastically change how an instrument plays and feels.

I'm in Cali also and have dealt with earthquakes....so whenever I see stuff on shelves or stands, I get paranoid. I have a big closet dedicated to all my cases. I also have a bunch of clothes/coats hanging in there, which serve as good padding/protection if the upper level of the building comes down.

The ones I'm playing, on stands. I am pretty lucky and a friend of mine is a really good woodworking hobbyist and he built me a wooden case with glass doors that can hold 8 guitars.

I do get concerned about dryness. My house is gas heated and wooden floors. A few years ago the wood floors were curling up a bit in some places. It was due to the gas heated air and really low humidity. So naturally I freaked out about what could happen to my guitars as well as the flooring. So I bought a shit load of humidity monitors and placed all over the house and use humidifiers in the winter time when I run the heater.

if not using them in cases or guitar bags, hidden all over the house haha

For those who leave them in stands: The strings must get old much quicker than when they're kept in cases, right?
That would really bother me..

I don't have that problem, but it's low humidity out here.

Unless its in my hands its in a case. I learned the hard way snapping head stock of my favorite guitar when the reliably cannot tip over stand tipped over. The stand is now in a landfill lol
