Fickle. Quit being fickle and focus on the music and how the guitar fits into the team effort.

No need replying about how you already are.

Hey Bob Savage. I guess you can't help making dick comments no matter which forum you're on huh?

Someday, you'll thank me for my honesty.

People are more likely to thank you for your honesty if your honesty isn't followed by shitty, unnecessary remarks.

I went through this a few years ago. I purchased another amp of the same make/model as the one I regretted selling. I eventually sold it for exactly the same reason. This happened more than once (once with an amp, once with a guitar). The second time I decided that I would never buy an item I have previously sold (exception would be if I involuntarily sold it due to needing $) because I'd always find out that there was a reason I sold it the first time around.

Taking a break can help if you are just board, but if you find yourself regularly not feeling the vibe for a particular item then it probably isn't a keeper.

Yeah that's happened to me before. I've longed to get back a piece of gear that I once let go, then when I finally got it in my hands, I just couldn't form the same bond. It's almost as if there's some kind of mojo that you give away with your gear. Ha!

I composed the comment in a way that would get your attention.

Ah, I get it. Kind of like the way this comment would be composed to promote a certain idea to you:

I'll come up with a different communication mechanism for you because you've now completely missed the point.

I found that amps change tone for no good reason if they're tube amps. One day I love the amp, the next it was "WTH, this sounds boring?"

Finally figured out that changing voltage in the wall was the cause of it. Then, of course, you have to figure out what voltage makes your amp sound best to you. I had this happen in a club I played at years ago. My JCM800 sounded dull, boring for the first set...as soon as 10pm hit, it came alive and was louder. Club owner told me there was some transformer thing going on with Edison, and it seemed to improve at 10pm every night.

But the club down the street we played didn't have that problem, even though it was only a mile away.

Go figure.

I read something that David Gilmour said he never leaves amps on the same settings they were the day before. I wonder if that's the same thing you're talking about. Maybe it's a good policy to turn all the controls down to zero when turning back on an amp.

Yup. Happens all the time. I just got several amps I circle thru.
Been pretty much living playing the PRS ARCHON the last 6 months.
Never fails to make me smile.

This used to happen to me all the time when I had only one amp. Got another and it improved and now with several I can usually vibe with at least one of them. I think there are so many factors in play here, our ears on a day-to-day basis, our mood, humidity, the ozone layer, wind direction and speed, Trump's underwear color on a particular day... Nothing will keep you satisfied permanently.

I have two very different sounding amps. It happens to be that because I have a number of projects, they both get a fair amount of play time, without me getting burnt out on one or the other. Perhaps having a slightly different flavor to jump to is a good thing.
