Here's my lesson on the rhythm guitar parts to Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo by Rick Derringer. This is one of those tunes that sounds a lot easier than it is. Most guys tend to play a simplified version, but the guitar parts on the recorded version are really awesome and tricky to play. The song is a lot faster than it seems. It's a GREAT workout and will definitely make your rhythm playing a lot better!

I hope you get something out of it. Cheers everyone.

This is my favorite Rick Derringer tune.

Hey guitarrhino, thanks very much for posting that! I have NEVER heard that and it is AWESOME! It REALLY reminds of Todd Rundgren, it has his sound especially the chorus. What a great tune brother!
cheers

Good god man.....this really shows my age. I remember this song!

Another great lesson Bartzzz. I played that song in bands totally wrong for years! But Rick is quite a talent and my first guitar hero back on the Johnny Winter And live album--then years later with his band Derringer. And he had one of the coolest album covers I'd ever seen:

Hey Drew, thanks bro! Yeah, I remember being at a buddies place and he asked me if I'd heard the new Edgar Winter album They Only Come Out at Night. He put it on and after I recovered from being pretty freaked out by the cover! hahaha, I couldn't believe how awesome those tunes were. Dan Hartman actually wrote and sang Free Ride and Hangin' Around and RD produced and played on the album. And Frankenstein with that crazy descending helicopter synth thing! Ronnie Montrose on there too! SO much talent in that circle man, those were the days bro, unreal musicians!
