In civilized countries where health care is universal, it absolutely makes sense.
So who get's to decide what's 'healthy' or not? Should people get penalized for not exercising, eating unhealthy, etc.? How about not taking vaccines? Or taking them rather! The government (taxpayers) currently compensates those injured by vaccines, why not the people who want to take them or the manufacturers?

Tobacco, alcohol and smoking cannabis are pretty universally known to negatively affect health. That's why they are heavily taxed in most societies where health care is universal.
A sugar tax has been a topic of conversation. Not a bad idea if you ask me. Sounds like something RFKjr would get behind.

These kinda proposals are why the democrat party here is in ruins. Crazy, off the wall stuff. How about taxing big corps that put unhealthy ingredients in food or do not raise their animals in a humane, healthy manner? Why does it generally always punish the individual consumer but not ever the companies producing unhealthy products?

The Democrats haven't proposed this in your country as far as I know. Sure, tax the big corps for sugar. The right wing argument against taxing corporations is always that they will pass the cost on to customers anyway.

Yep, they should be fucking prosecuted for crimes against humanity.

The problem is they did recent testing and stuff like cereals from the big makers are filled with heavy metals and forever chemicals, among other bad stuff. Seems like the thing to do would be to force-shutter their operations until they are actually making the healthy products they are advertising. Hit them right in the wallet and let their investors help to hold them accountable.

I'm with ya.

>it should be illegal to raise an animal in an environment where there is no natural sunlight or food availability. Say goodbye to Smithfield pork and a lot of chicken operations. The meat chicken has also been bred to be slaughter ready i 6 weeks. Imagine a child who is 300lbs at 13 or 14 years old. This should also be illegal.

Get this:

I ran out of my usual organic tobacco and nobody local had it in-stock (no car), so I had to plunk down for the chemical-filled stuff. Figured I liked Champion Ruby back in the '90s so I ended up buying it.

Wait for the price... wait for it... waaait... $162 AU.

That's significantly more than my entire grocery bill, and those prices have skyrocketed. Only difference is that this particular brand (I can't speak for others) is easily 10x what it should cost. Gonna have to make this packet last at least 3 months I reckon.
