Still waiting for your clips :) Please share with us mere mortals.

Ship me all that stuff, and I'll record a clip for you. Deal?

I don't understand the animosity here. The original clip sounded mehish. It happens. It's tough to mic a cab, sometimes it sounds great, sometimes it doesn't sound great. This time it didn't. Your response was to do some post magic. I mean, even you thought it needed some help to sound better or you wouldn't have done anything to it. Why get so offended for funning around about what you yourself agree to?

No offense to Mark Day at all because his parts in this demo sounded cool, but hearing Mark Cameron play this amp really is

I like how in this clip Mark C is playing with more of a vintage, heavy rock vibe. The way he attacks the guitar and the way the amp responds to the way he plays it is really fun to listen to. He is a very cool player in my opinion and in his case, that vibe IS in his hands. Most people don't play with that much of their hands attacking the guitar to produce that sound, if that makes sense.

Also, Mark Cameron on a Suhr? You should have let him use one of his own guitars. His guitars are so freaking JUNKY yet sound so FANTASTIC that someone who saw him playing one of those and getting that tone would think "if he can do that with THAT guitar, i will be just fine with whatever I have". :D

Cool video!~

Totally agree. Nice hearing the Gary Moore licks in the actual tone of that era of GM.

Mark, I dug how you dialed in Highway to Hell. Not too much gain and it sounded great. Even through the "interweb" you could tell it had the "klang" factor.

This is a nice amp. Would love to hear a Gibby with some medium output PAF type pickups.

Much better Mark, and more representative of what I recall a CCV to sound like.

Steve

Can you do one the same as the remix but totally dry?!?!

Hes not offended, if you knew Mark you would know he is one of the truly good guys out there. Sometimes you try to do what the people want clip wise, spend a ton of time and effort to get it done and up and then be told that this is wrong and thats wrong its frustrating and its a fickle audience to say the least. ;)

You don't have to like the clips and being honest we were out of time and trying to get clips done on the last day just to honor requests we were getting. If you have ever been in Tone Merchants on a Saturday its busy and we were trying to record in between clients and it was not ideal. Int he future we will only record clips in a studio environment unrushed.

He's human and no matter how nice he is sometimes you get to the point when you cant win trying to post up what is requested. (We want a Zoom HD clip, we want a close mic clip, we want a clip with grease, we want a bone dry clip, we want a clip with you standing on one foot, eating a sandwich and humming the battle hym of the republic. Its a frustrating endeavor. Anyway its all good and the head sounds wicked. The new owners will dig it for sure and they will start posting real world end user clips which is what we want anyway.

Its all good.

You obviously don't know me and don't get my sarcasm :) There is no animosity on my part. Your reponses had a tone of "smartass". You and several others made comments and I said I would remix and use the tools that I always use anyway, you responded with another smartass comment, so I decided to give you back some of your own medicine. Now you are calling that animosity? I'm not sure why me saying "post some clips" is animosity? I am also, like you, just funnin'.

I just want to hear your clips, not asking much am I? You don't need the Cameron stuff or my gear, you should be able to make your own rig sound great, no? :)
Notice the smilies....no animosity :)

Dude I have no problem with you at all :) So don't take it that way. Now give me a hug and I'll buy you a beer.

I appreciate Mark and his clips, more so to hear and watch him play than to listen to his tone. And I totally get the "can't satisfy everyone all the time" thing. On top of that, you have a hyped amp like the CCV and everyone is going to want to hear it this way and that way. Some clips are going sound better than others. This is the nature of things.

That said, I find it innately humorous a clip was recorded and in order to "make it better" it had to have some post work done to it. I'd find that humorous form anybody with any amp, but even more so with the much anticipated CCV. I mean, come on, it's funny.

I will say this much, the things he does in post are pretty awesome.

Clips that use close miking, in my experience ALWAYS have post, otherwise they sound hideous imho. This is not something out of the ordinary and is in fact just the way it is. If it sounded great just close miking they wouldn't have to double, triple, quad track and add all kinds of post to try and get the amp to sound like it does in a room.

All I did was use the same tools I always use in my clips if I'm close miking, nothing out of the ordinary, just the usual practice. The thing that was out of the ordinary was me posting the clip raw like I did..my mistake, shouldn't have done it and I apologize. I was doing what I thought folks wanted :)

That's cool. I was never making fun of you personally, just the idea of making a clip better. I didn't much care for the tone in the original clip. Seemed rather anti-climaxic. I didn't ask or want any post work done to it to make it better. It was a clip posted on the internet. I've heard many clips from many amps, most all have been different and some sounded better than others. It's just a reality.

I appreciate the clips you put out there. Post or no post.

BTW, my clips would not be flattering to any rig out there.

I appreciate the original more than the one with the post work done to it. Whatever you do in post is pretty awesome, but as we can see here, somewhat misleading to what the original clip sounded like. I'd rather hear the untouched clip myself, although the other clip is cool as a before/after kind of thing.

Agreed about Mark C's attack, he plays with a heavier feel than MD and that brings different characteristics into the tone. More on the edge.
