Anyone consider, perhaps he already owns a Helios? Did some swapping of the heavily used Helios for some of the parts of the gently used Helios? Just a thought.

This is what I'm wondering. SR, did you check the serial number? Are you sure that is the same amp you sent out?

Yeah, it's the same. The guy just did something to the footswitch, back plexi panel, and one of the rubber feet. The transformer was an easy fix. I've pretty much fully restored it like new now. The bias as off a little, so I set it back. It's sounding incredible and looks almost like it did when it left. I just need to replace the footswitch and panel now. Bogner hasn't yet got back to me with an estimate, so hopefully I'll hear something by tomorrow. Reverb has pretty much forgotten about me for the last couple of days. They called a couple of times, but never responded to my emails, so that tells me they're not willing to go on record with anything. I guess we'll see how they handle it, but I don't expect much. I think I pretty much got fucked all the way around on this one.

WHY won't people take phone calls??? So much more can be handled in a 5-minute phone convo than a week of back & forth on email. Geez. Pick up your calls!

If you're worried, record them. Just let them know that it's occurring.

This thread reminds me why I only use forums to trade and sell. Less potential buyers but also way less dickheads.
Amen to that brother!! Just like Savage Riffer said this kinda bullshit fucks it up for all the honest people with the best intentions !!

SR, here is how I see it.
That amp was MEANT FOR YOU. DONT TRY TO SELL IT AGAIN!
It is happy to be back in your arms, after this big ordeal. You rejected it...sent it away...basically told it "you're not good enough".
But, it forgave you. It came back. And, it needs a home. Keep the damn thing. They sound great, those Helios.
See, nobody here has taken the amplifiers feelings into consideration.

What's the latest??

Reverb took off the charges. They banned Kamran Kavian from Reverb. All I can say is that although I won't be selling through eBay or Reverb or using Paypal ever again, Reverb does show a lot more concern for fairness and making sure things are dealt with properly. I know this thread had a lot to do with how Reverb handled it, so I'm not sure what that means for other people or future dealings. I hope it gets better though and stays that way.

Ha! LOL. Maybe this sounds weird, but I think once a person connects with an amp or guitar, they impart some kind of mojo into it. Likewise, sometimes when you receive a piece of gear, it's got some mojo on it. Sometimes that mojo is not compatible with yours, so even though you would have otherwise loved that very make/model, it's the one you get in your hands that determines if you connect with it or not.

That is about the best outcome you could have considering the situation. You got your amp back with no major damage, you got the slimeball banned from Reverb due to your persistence which removes an outlet for his fraud and got the reverb sales charge dropped.

All in All good job Savageriffer... Now you can move on with a little satisfaction.

Reverb was excellent to me when a guy shipped me a $1700 Caparison with a completely fucked neck. I must have called and spoke to the woman in charge of my case at least 4 times, and she explained that she didn't know much about guitars, but all my evidence would be given to someone that does know about guitars in their staff. It seems like they do try to do the right thing for the most part. I paid through paypal, and the rep said that they can plead the case and advocate for you, but ultimately it's paypal's decision. I don't think I'll be using paypal for Reverb anymore, you have much more security directly through your bank/credit card and Reverb's direct checkout than you do through paypal.

I think you guys neglect that the credit cards themselves are are dark horse for many of these problems. If you challenge a charge, they have the power to pull from paypal or even reverb direct checkout of any vendor for that matter. They also tend to side with their own custom with marginal evidence.

Paypal sent me a shabby email form, requiring me to physically fill it out and fax it to them. I don't have a fax machine or even a phone line, so just another way Paypal makes it even more difficult to appeal a claim. I fucking hate Paypal.

You'd be surprised. Dealing with insurance companies is the same way. You have to fax everything. I'm like... hey it's 2017. We have the internet. I have email.

It's a legal thing. By law, you have to fax. For some stupid reason. It's also more secure for sending personal info. A fax can't be hacked. An email can.

It's easier to tap a phone line than to hack an email, but yeah, many laws are antiquated.

I believe the deal is that you have to sign the forms. Fax makes it so you'll do this and you won't be sending back and forth.

As noted, it's 2017. Print the thing out, fill it out, scan it, and send it as an attachment. Nobody actually faxes anymore. You just send scanned, signed, forms.

Yeah, I know how to do it. It's just a hassle to do when it would be much easier to fill out an online form.

I really do think it's due to the signature on it. However, I'm not remotely a lawyer-type so I could well be wrong.

I just had to do this on a vehicle I gave away to my father-in-law so he could prove he received it as a gift (no taxes) rather than purchased it.

Those forms blow from PayPal. Been there done that 3-4 times over 19 years.

Just found out from Carl/fusionbear that good old Kam went on a two minute rant to him about this thread two weeks ago. At the end of it he declared that Carl & I were racist for not siding with him and helping out SR.

Not sure how exposing someone who's purposely screwing someone over is racist, but that's how this guy thinks. Sheesh.

Why doesn't Carl just tell him to go fuck himself? It's people who use the race card are the ones who are true racists.
