The owners of this fine GUITAR forum should remove the Off Topic/General area of the Forum.
It's nothing but trolls who never post in other forums on the site. There are only here to troll, pick fights and add zero value to a guitar gear forum.
I see no reason to give them any voice. New Trolls seemingly pop up every day. Shut it down.

I was a mod for a bit a few years ago and I kept it clean, but liberal mindedness prevailed and the shit-show is tolerated much to the chagrin of the old guard. Fuck 'em, they can have it. Use that ignore function and starve the cunts of their narcissistic supply.

95% of the people who frequent OTC are fully capable of and do have actual discussions. It's OTC so there's always going to be friendly bickering and no one really makes a big deal over that. The real problem is there's always 2-3 bad actors who all but ruin that entire section. The current crop mainly consists of a starship captain and a piece of living room furniture. Their main purpose is to disrupt every single thread trying to piss everyone off. There's also a child who seems to be completely incapable of any rational thought and a military action (formerly a California guitar brand) with extreme TDS. None of them ever offer any type of coherent arguments for their points of view. It's just bullshit antagonizing posts. Sadly they even fuck up threads specifically made to be free of bickering. Unfortunately, not feeding the trolls doesn't work overly well. They either start trying harder to push buttons until someone eventually responds, become completely unhinged, or in a specific case things just go completely over their head.

It's long been a low-tier criticism that sounds good and people jump onto it, and yet to my knowledge it's never been the case.

Sure, some peeps post way more there than in the main sub-forum, but none exclusively so.

As for the "paid shills" observation, I've never been aware of a member's fitting that description either. If anyone can point me to one I'd be happy to take it up with him / her 'cause obviously nobody here wants that.

I think that is the balance What might light a fire under someone- another might find laughable or amusing & decide to fire back .. Impossible to please everyone.. I do know if lines continue to get crossed eventually they’ll guide themselves to a ban.
