I Played My First (And Second) Knaggs This Weekend

I was out at Guitar Center today and they had a Knaggs Keya hanging up. It was amazing. It played like butter. The action fit and finish was spot on. The bridge pickup was pretty good, but the neck was a little boomy. Otherwise, I was really impressed.

They’re killer guitars. I agree though, they do make some ugly models. I love mine though.

Steckel model is the way to go 100%. I've got one and it's really good. On the darker side tonally, though. I've heard they generally are, but I can't really figure out why. It's the same mahogany/maple mix as a Les Paul.

I had a Severn and a Kenai -- couldn't get along with the necks. They have a slight V to them

Steckel's are so incredibly good looking

Too many knots in that burl! I like the soft v, makes the beefier necks like the SS easier to play

Yeah I can’t figure out why. Same body woods, similar hardware. Mine also has an ebony board. I even changed pickups and put the same bridge and tailpiece as my Les Pauls on mine. And disconnected the tone pots. Still darker.

It could be the neck joint
