pretty cool he got invited to audition for velvet revolver also.

great video
The part starting at 6:00 was out of this world.

fricken monster! Talk about feeling all the notes just like Pete said. That 6 minute mark is not of this world!

Glad to see Ian and BW getting some love from a wider audience. Thanks to Pete (&John) for championing this guy. He most definitely deserves it!

It's a crime more people don't know about him, really. The world needs more great rock music, from guys like Ian! So i'm happy to spread the word however I can.

Been following Ian for years! It's really not fair for one dude to have all of that talent!!!!!

Honestly, I'd never heard of the guy until a few months ago. Someone mentioned him in a thread and I checked him out. Big Wreck as well.
Cool stuff.

Good! The more we can convert, the better. The IT experience is deep and wide, so enjoy.

For those of you on Facebook, here's a link to the most active BW page. Lots of album updates every day:

So Thornley/Big Wreck have been on my "to check out" list for a while but their material is still unknown to me at this point...I guess I need to dive in and check them out. Where should I begin?

Is he a big dude? That Suhr looks like a ukulele on him.

Get the Albatross album. The The Pleasure and the Greed. Albatross is amazing.

He's about 6'4, 6'5, so yea... a big dude for sure.

Depends on what kind of stuff you want to hear. Their first album had the hits like "That Song", "The Oaf" and "Blown Wide Open". Their second album (The Pleasure and the Greed) was a total commercial flop, but it had some incredible guitar work. Too much guitar work in some places, but very proggy. They disbanded shortly after.

His solo stuff was a departure. He was sorta under the thumb of Chad Kroeger's management and his releases were pretty formulaic—not bad, good, even. But formulaic. "Come Again" had some really heavy stuff.

Finally, Albatross was released in 2012 as Ian and Brian (guitar) reunited. That album is a masterpiece! A testament to what a great artist can produce if they're trusted and left to their own devices. I'll throw some links up for those that don't want to dig.

You GOTTA hear this one:

There's plenty more great live stuff if you dig around.

saw this guy play at the suhr factory party, amazing vocal tone and amazing guitar player. I was very impressed!!

see if you can find big wreck live at roy thomson
with an orchestra...unbelievable!
used to be on google video but seems to be gone now :(

"Control", Ian tears it up real good on this. Joined on acoustic and bkg Vox by our buddy Matt Rodriguez.

Nice! I'm liking some of these live versions better than the CD version.
