I know you guys think I’m nuts. Who cares :D

On my quest for another guitar..

Never owned an Ibanez. One has come up... rg652 Koa

Any things to be concerned with or think about? As I understand it the prestige line are some of the better built Ibby’s

Anyway. Appreciate any thoughts.

They look great. I own an RG550 that I got in January and absolutely love it. If these prestige are higher quality, I can't even imagine how good they must be. My RG is made so well.
Japanese products continue to impress.

Every Japanese-made Ibanez I've played has been awesome, even compared to other very very expensive guitars. They make very nice guitars.

Those are beautiful guitars!

Love the look of them!

 straight impulse purchase. :D

Ha! Nice one. Be sure to post pics first chance you get.

I have a couple of Ibanez Prestige guitars...

An RG652 BG Natural Flat:

and an RG657 MSK Sunset Burst:

I've been through a load of guitars over the last decade, and these are my keepers. The RG652 BG Natural Flat is my fave of the bunch, but only by a whisker. They are all great in their own right. I didn't like the stock pickups, but then I always end up swapping out stock pickups for something more closely matched to the sound of the guitar and to suit my preferences anyway.

Here's my RG550 Road Flare Red with some Jim Wagner Iron Mans installed:

The Prestige stuff KILLS! Best value on the used market.

I'm intrigued by the invisible pickups
Ha! I've got some special pickups incoming for those two guitars.

Prestige is the way to go. I have five, all are great guitars.

So far I like it ...only a few minutes last night with it. But very chimey, resonant guitar.

This guitar is a first for me. First Ibanez, first rosewood board, and first bridge like this.... I need to watch a tutorial on how these should be set up. The action is a little high, and the bridge as currently arranged is tilted/up a little in the rear, you may be able to see it in the photo attached. I’m guessing that ain’t quite right.

All in all though, absolutely gorgeous guitar!

So the Ibanez Lo Pro bridge plates have an angle to them. What you need to be looking at is the knife-edge inserts to check if those are level. The top of the baseplate itself won't be level to the guitar.

Check out Rich's set up guide. It's the best out there:

Exactly on this. Also huge recommendation for Rich at ibanez rules, there is more knowledge on that site regarding to ibanez then there is everywhere else combined. Jem site is good too, but not very busy.

Congratulations!

Oh, and when you lower the action: MAKE SURE THE STUDS ARE UNLOCKED!

There are small set screws in inside the studs. You need to back those out in order to lower the action. If the set screws are tightened down and you try to lower the studs, something is going to strip out and you will be very very sad.

.
That is crucial.

Thank you fellas for the tips and info. I will try to educate myself in the next few days. In the meantime this pic below shows the current set up, with 9’s STD tuning. Honestly I’ve not had tome to read anything in the links provided so this may be a proper height/setup.

That is too high, you need more tension in the springs.

Yeah a trick people hipped me too is to make sure that little black rectangle on the base of the trem is level to the route. Raise or lower the trem height for your action how you like but that black rectangle should be used as a visual level.
