Yeah that is lame, just remember ... I agree with you .... BUT ... to play devils advocate

If you want to make yt a career you have to cater to the algorithm and have content on deck to ride the wave if you start getting views. So I think getting the perfect take vs a comped version means that the honest guys get hosed because outputting high-quality one takes is extremely hard to do consistently. It just takes to much time and whatever the audience is that likes this responds to this 'perfect' take type of content.

I understand this and have had guys I respect put it out there from the get go that they are fixing things here and there for the videos, thats fine. Devils advocate aside though, I don't like it and its cheesy. Yes I consider it dishonest and fraudulent to claim its live and it pisses me off too because I see many actual musicians that don't play the game still struggling because they are serving the music and not the algorithm.

Honestly it's not as much about "getting the perfect take" or comping performances if he were actually writing songs or playing in a band on a record or music video or something - it's clearly intended to show off his "virtuosity" or whatever or he wouldn't make 1 minute instagram guitar-only showcases.

Those videos only exist for making people think he can actually play that shit.

It's not even a big deal about the miming if it's in a situation where it's not meant to mislead people - jesus christ look at these comments, apparently I should start hucking snake oil and get some of those sweet sweet clicks - because apparently it's really, really easy to do with people who aren't that familiar with what's going on.

The second video is way more indicative of how good he actually is, completely with garbage technique and massive fuckup halfway through
 
I think the guy can write some cool etudes but it was 100% evident to me from the very first vid I ever saw from him years ago that it was all mimed and edited

I honestly wouldn't care that the videos are edited if he could actually play any of the shit in his IG videos

If ichika can actually play "probably everybodies favorite" I will eat my own arm

The sticking point is gullible people like the kid obviously believe (somehow I don't know) that he's actually doing it, which is the intention
