It sounds awesome. If I join another band, it will be the cab I leave at the practice space. I am also considering getting a greenback loaded 412, in 212's I have mainly had to overlook greenbacks due to their low power rating.
One thing to keep in mind when gigging with a 412, is that just cause it doesn't take up much more space than a 212 or have to be louder, there is a certain stigma about using a 412. Some people may give you a hard time when using one, just smile and play. Unfortunately people judge things with their eyes, not their ears. "That rig looks loud"
For a 212 you can use Splawn Small Blocks or Celestion Creambacks.
I just talked to Scott Splawn and he said he could switch my Splawn 212 order for a 412. However, we live on the third floor of a condo complex and I carry all my gear up and down the steps, I am thinking the Splawn 212 with Small Blocks makes the most sense till we get a house, then I want a 412 with WGS Green Berets. Till then, the Bogner OS212, Stone Age 212C and Splawn 212 will do!![]()
I probably should have mentioned that I currently have four 212 cabs, three 112 cabs, and one 412. I am happy with my current 212's and speakers, so that is why I was thinking of adding a 2nd 412. Probably the EVH 412 as it comes stock with greenbacks.
I am aware of the high power greenbacks like the creambacks, and scumback 65W M75's, etc, but would rather stick with the 20-25Watt versions and go with a 412.
Since you already have 2 212's, I would go for the 412. For the time being just lug it into you Apt or practice space onces, then you will have the 412 once you have a house. Even my house I have to deal with stairs as my music room is in the basement.
