Just more brain rot^

Seems to be a specialty of yours.

Karma=a child starving to death deserves it because he committed sins in a different life. Trash world thinking. Not surprising since in your mind Jimmy Page is a blues guitarist, Johnny Cash is a blues songwriter, and murdering a health care CEO will help fix the problems with the medical insurance system. Any other neurological compost you'd like to add?

A little thread drift...

Jimmy certainly isn't a blues guitarist but Since I've Been Loving You is a modern blues masterpiece.

Not sure I would agree to it being a "modern blues masterpiece" but I appreciate you mentioning it. I took the time to give it a listen. It sounds about on par with a rock band playing a minor blues tune. I am not an enjoyer of Robert Plant's voice and minor blues tunes rarely hit me as hard as stuff where major and minor pents can be mixed at will. These are the sort of discussions I was hoping for in that thread though. Thanks James.

The genius part, IMHO, is the turnaround. Lemme see if I can draw up the changes. I'm not practiced in computer graphics of this kind so gimme a sec to try.

I'm all ears. It would be cool if you tossed it up in that blues thread instead of a thread about health insurance, LOL.

Hmm, it would take me a long time...

But thankfully someone else has already done it. Here's Marty Schwartz...

This is the turnaround. I agree about Plant's voice. Ugh.

  • (C minor with E♭ in the bass)
    • G7/D (G dominant 7 with D in the bass)
    • Eb7 (E♭ dominant 7)
    • D7 (D dominant 7, often descending down to a bass note on A)
    • Dbmaj7 (D♭ major 7, functioning as a tritone/flat-5 substitution for a dominant chord)
    • Resolving back to Cm (C minor) [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Marty gets one wrong. The Eb7 has Bb in the bass. Very important. At least that's what my ears tell me.

What’s the difference between a black man from Louisiana lamenting his hard life and white man from Louisiana lamenting his hard life?

Not a fucking thing!

Humans are humans are humans and music is music is music .
You excel at logical fallacies and faulty reasoning. The “no true Scotsman” this time. It seems you think all “bluesmen” are black and from the delta?

Humans don’t fit in neat little boxes. Thinking it does actually makes you a racist and perpetuates stereotypical thinking.

One writes blues songs and another writes country songs. Captain Obvious stuff. :poke:

It's like you're not even trying.

“All music is folk music! I ain’t never heard a horse sing a song.” Louis Armstrong
One man’s blues is another mans country. You have a very limited perspective. I feel sorry for you.
I posted a video of Miles Davis last week only for you to belittle, of which you completely missed the import. Miles said “my daddy is rich my momma is good looking, and I can play the blues and I’ve never suffered a day in my life”.
The blues isn’t reserved for one group of people in one genre.
Being blue, depressed, angry, worried or heartbroken and singing about it = the blues.

I guess I can officially stop complaining about my low wages bc I my wife and I have medical for life.

I never suggested that suffering was a necessary component for playing actual blues, but you did. It goes to show you how little you understand about it. I won't tell you about your business, stop telling me about mine.

I’m very good at discernment and reading between lines with people, and getting the gist of what someone is trying to say without saying it. You’ve had a million and one opportunities to define your position on a multitude of subjects, of which you never do but instead attack every one personally.

If someone writes a tune with “blues” in the title, it’s a fucking blues, and you have no standing to tell them it’s not, because that’s how the author felt at the time they wrote it, so… fuck off!

As I said, you just don't know what you're talking about. You have no blues band, no blues gigs, nothing. You have absolutely zero to do with anything related to the blues music world or blues community, but somehow you think you are right about what blues is, setting a definition that would include anyone who uses a pentatonic scale as a qualifier. Your own ability to play a minor pentatonic at a gig ten years ago has netted you classic 21st century dunning-krueger brain rot.

^Zero credible argument, just a guitar forum dude pissed off that Jimmy Page has never been, and never will be, a blues musician. Weird idea, but not uncommon among those outside the actual blues world.
