If you thought your health insurance was getting worse

Thanks VB. It would be interesting to explore the fuzzy boundary between refusing lifesaving care, and actively seeking one's death.
I'm not actively seeking death, I'm just preparing for it since it's inevitable and I would like to spend eternity with the Lord (hopefully), in inexpressible joy and gladness. I hope to meet you, and many others there. ☦️

I'm not sure where you gathered that from my post. I do not support any of the MAID stuff that others have painted as virtuous and humane.
I didn't say you supported MAID. I was trying to say it sounded like the basis of a dumbass argument of someone who did would use. Basically someone could use that statement against you as an argument for having a system like MAID.

No, it's an argument I would make for universal health care. I believe brother VB should have care whether he can afford it or not. MAID is a complex issue and I have mixed feelings about it, as any nuanced thinker would.
Fair enough. So far you have presented yours stance on MAID as anything but being a nuanced complex issue and you having mixed feelings. Would you like to elaborate on your mixed feeling about MAID? I'd like to hear you actual, non-combative thoughts on it.

Well, health care for people without insurance is def not affordable, that's a reality, but my post was based around me not wanting what is offered as health care anyways. Even if I could easily afford it, or if it was free, I don't want it, if that makes sense.

Sure.
I think that MAID should be available to people who have a reasonable expectancy of dying in the relatively near future, and also to people suffering from interolable chronic conditions or disabilities.

I think that there should be a therapist or psychological evaluation done prior to the final decision, to make sure the person is certain they want to go ahead.

I don't agree with MAID for people who are suffering solely from mental illness. Thankfully this has never been the case and is now permanently halted.

I also believe there is a lot of misinformation about MAID from right wing media both in Canada and the US. This is usually presented as if there is a huge problem with people being coerced into accepting MAID. While there have been a few cases of inappropriate MAID suggestions, these have been dealt with severely with firings, and there's no evidence that it's widespread.

Yeah, that makes sense. I wouldn't want the financial burden of health care costs to fall on my family if I ever feel ill with something that current healthcare could only give me a coupe extra years. As much as I would want to spend my lats years with my family I wouldn't want to burden them with detrimental costs for that selfish reason.

I guess my point was I can see someone who hasn't fully thought out the complexities of a system like MAID using that as an argument for assisted suicide. "If you kill yourself now you can spare your family from financial burden"; or something along those lines.

Thank you for your honest opinion. While I don't agree with every aspect I think this is a more than reasonable assessment. Personally I'm not religious at all; practically an atheist but I have my spiritual views, so I don't buy into the suicide is a mortal sin (from what I remember of my catholic upbringings). So I can see where assisted suicide can be an option, but SHOULD NOT be take lightly at all.

I also understand there is political & religious bias in a system like that. It's far too nuanced for a single ideology to encompass. At the same time I understand people's views; like @VonBonfire of equating assisted suicide to things like abortion.

Anyway; I've been day drinking, but the point I'm trying to get at is while I have my own personal views of systems like MAID I understand both sides of the argument. It is very nuanced and religious views come into play.

I do 100% agree with you that a full psychological evaluation should be done for anyone considering MAID. My one caveat to that would be to make certain the person doing the evaluation is 100% non bias to any political or other leanings that could influence their final assessment.

As an aside, I'm going to be honest and say if you could stay with nuanced opinions like this and refrain from the political combativeness people here would be more receptive to your opinions. I'll even concede that I've been purposefully combative. Point being, if we can be honest and understanding of each other I think productive discussions could be had.

Doctors have to fight that tooth and nail through the appeals process.
Plus she could have lawyered up after the first denial
