Mentoneman clips are like sticking your toe into the waters of purity and watching the haze lift before your eyes to finally see the mount of pure soaked tones.

Give Mesa Boogie since they could use your help writing their next product brochure.  Ever read the nonsense they talk up?

That's what I was thinking ?
my triaxis manual was written by buddha and confuscius' lovechild under the tutelage of Ralph Waldo Emmerson.

Ever checkout the Empress Superdelay? That looks like another great unit.

For someone who's not totally picky about delays, but would like a nice tape delay echoplex kinda tone, would the Axe-Fx be able to simulate something close, or would I be better off getting one of the aforementioned pedals?

I emailed Damage Control about the Time Line and Glass Nexus
This was the response..

Greetings,

We are selling direct from our website exclusively now, so some former dealers are listing them as discontinued since they won’t be selling them anymore. We are getting a large production run together to get ahead of the demand curve and we’re about 4 weeks from finished units. Thanks for your patience!

Regards,

Pete Celi

Damage Control

I am going to wait 4-5 weeks so I can get one..

Dedicated effects typically sound better in a colorful way and are more simple to use and experiment with in pairing with other amps and effects.
The trade off is real time control, flexibility, and rerouting.

Axe does a cool job with echoplex type stuff IMO...

presenting the damage control timeline, mentoneman style!

This was all really cool and all as a demo, but I just cannot imagine playing with that much delay effect. Way too distracting to me how wet that was, especially the high gain stuff... I can't even tell what you're playing on the leads...

I hear you and agree... I never use that much delay mix nor that much gain normally but I figured I wanted the delay big and heard.

But I should have tap tempoed and layed off the filtering of the repeats.
Like I said I only spent a few hours with it.
I promise to do better next time!

I do not like dry amps
Me neither.

But I think steve is right about too much of that kind of delay on the high gain clip.
Maybe if the mix was lower, tap tempo was used and it was a little more digital clean on the repeats it would have been cleaner sounding....
Work in progress

Ps

I got an axefx

BUT

Before I hear any I told you so's it did not slay me as far as amp models go.
None of the presets had any clean tones or semi dirty tones that even came close to amps I've owned but there is promise

but the effects are as I expected..great...and the interface is intriguing enough to make it worth giving it a shot, particularly since Ralph, Kage, Steve H, Harry, and Ed are so in love with it.
Don't care so much that dweezil loves it
maybe I care about Lincoln brewster loving it.... :D

I played it through the new atomic powered cabs which sounded nice and surprisingly light weight.

I was screwing around with my DL-4 tonight after listening to your clip, always used you for a reference for these things  OF course I ending up sounding like I had 27 marshalls dimed on top of Mt Fuji waiting for the gods to strike me down

BUt it was glorious

No I told you so from me, only that keep tweeking and looking for patches that have been made and see what YOU can do with them. I am sure you want to try Dweezil's brown patch ;)

Forget the presets. Start with the straight amp models and get them sounding right - then build your own tones. You'll dig it. Download the PC/Mac editor from the forum. Makes tweaking a breeze. Download the "naked amp models" presets that one of the guy creates and updates. You'll have a bank of just dry amp models with everything at !2 o'clock. Makes a great starting point for tweaking any model. If you spend the time you will reap rewards 1000 fold. :D

dweezil's brown patch....hmmmmm...there's a humdinger of a cd cover concept.

my friend has some great sounding patches on his dl-4 and with the expression pedal it's actually very ethereal but when i PLAY though it the sensation is that my strings, tubes, and speakers just got coated with a film of wax.

Mentoneman.............

I come before you but a humble soul both humble and contrite.

Before you release yourself from these earthy tube bounds I ask of ye,

Spare me Marshalls, me Ibanez guitars and me rack effects...

and punish those who consider themselves your master...........

or mine.

You'll be good to go, but you have to be willing to work, which you have been with all of your rigs so far. Midisport is cool - I've been using an old emagic AMT-8 with my Mac with no problems since I first got the Axe...

I have the T Rex and love it in any loop... very very transparent and clean sounding, for what I spent and what I expected, GREAT value!
Pristine delays...

Cool review, thanks. I still have my replex and love it, I always thought the damage control unit looked cool and thought about pulling the trigger but I would rather a have a few different small boxes, I get frustrated dealing with too much in one unit. I stumbled across this on youtube the other day, this might turn out to be a killer delay. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2yDjVsnGN8

yup the replex is just so fat and toneful and enjoyable. i love that thing but it is sorta limited for a digital unit and should have at least tap tempo.

i find the timeline lacking in the input level area...there is no input level control, only a fx mix knob, yet it seems to handle a wide range of input levels from instrument to loop line level.
the echolution and replex have an input level/drive control with LED clip indicator which is very valuable to me and maximizes the input section.

the timeline also doesn't allow you to control the 2nd and 3rd head volume in the multihead echo which is a bit limiting. but every setting on the timeline is storable and recallable via midi or on one of it's user preset positions so that's hip. i wonder if adding that input drive level control on this unit would take it into the next level...it's just not super buttery like replex/echolution. or 2290 :D

i had my friend who is a line 6 DL4 fan, and who's DL4 presets are the only ones I've ever really liked the sound of, try the timeline and he was finally able to hear what i've been saying about the line 6 tone suck...the lightbulb went off!

i'd still like to mess with empress superdelay, skreddy echo, and time factor for a day. i hear the time factor updates are great sounding and more tape analog approved.

I messed around with the Timefactor for a few days and i don't think it sounds nearly as good as the Timeline, the modulation on the Timefactor really left me flat. And i did install the new update. If the Echolution sounds as lush as you say then I'd really like to hear that.

Had a nice round with the replex tonight, screw the mammoth footprint this thing still buries boots in the taint. That is all.
