Is GC a scam ?

I have 3 Synchrony Cards for gear places for the sole purpose of the interest free financing. As soon as the first statement comes, I set up auto pay to pay it off in time or earlier. Easy peasy. That's a hard concept to explain to the OP because he regularly dines on lead paint chips.

Post #1 - no context or opening discussion (as usual).
Post #5 - appears AMS gave you credit but GC wouldn't? No surprise.
Post #9 - goes political - no surprise.
Post #12 - the most words I've seen you type here in the last 16 years, unfortunately - it is wrong (as usual).

Edit: Post #40 - More 7th grade content from CharvelDanielle (as usual).

It's never been easier. Back in the snail mail days, it was easy to miss a bill that didn't make it to your mailbox or the day you had to write the check, you couldn't find your checkbook, etc. Nowadays I just log in, set up autopay to make sure it's knocked out before the interest kicks in and I don't think about it anymore. Why should I lose this perk because people who can't do math or manage money pay a lot in interest? Two kinds of problems in the world - theirs and mine. This sounds like one of theirs.

100%

I guess Sweetwater is in the same boat?
SW has a 36 month payment plan which is insane.
Who da Fuck wanna pay SW 3 yrs on a $1K item.
I have a friend in dealership car sales 40+ yrs. All their "new car" loans are 7 yr car notes because they're banking you will default in that
time.
And when customers do default they get the loan paid in full, they get the car back plus any & all payments made up to that point.
M'erica.

To this day I still believe America died in 06 when we, the taxpayer, bailed out the banks.

At that point we all knew the jig was up.

So true. But just to help those along:

If you’d get a fucking job maybe you wouldn’t default on your 7 year car note Dan.

I paid my fucking house off in 10. Paid for my Mercedes with cash. 🙄

A 7 yr car note with interest (likely usurious) and 3-4 yr interest free with Sweetwater are two totally different situations. If you take one of those "we approve everyone" car loans at a 7 yr term, you're probably paying double for the car. SW's gear doesn't get repo'ed if you default. Your credit gets trashed, but that's probably the extent of it. SW's card is run by Synchrony too.

If I really wanted a big ticket item from SW, I'd stretch out the financing for as long as it could go interest free. It might take me a while to sell the gear I'd likely need to sell. I try to keep my collection size-neutral or decreasing. If I take in a new amp, I need to get rid of at least one. I'm really jonesing for the 1983 reissue Kramer Baretta, the No Bozos ad one. But I can't fit any more guitars in my music room and I don't know that I can part with any other guitars at the moment. I wonder what the poor people are doing today.
