An incredibly bloody and horrific crime occurred earlier this week in Texas that could have been avoided had authorities done their job.

As FOX 7 Austin reported, 62-year-old Andrew James Wimsatt, an accomplished civil engineer who published several notable works, was seen in video footage obtained from a neighborhood HOA sitting on a park bench in Round Rock at roughly 10:55 a.m. on September 7.

Then his life ended a few minutes later.

The footage goes on to show a black male with a knife in his hand sneaking up behind Wimsatt. The black person proceeds to stab Wimsatt multiple times in the neck while wrapping his arm around him.

Wimsatt tries desperately to fight him off to no avail. He is stabbed several more times by the black male and left on the ground to bleed to death.

The perp then wiped his blade off and ran toward a neighboring area.

Wimsatt’s body was found near the Chandler Creek Trail.

The suspect, later identified as 26-year-old Benedict Ogbodiegwu of Round Rock, was found at a home on Matagorda Drive in Round Rock several hours later. He was previously seen in footage from a McDonald’s restaurant in Round Rock following the murder.
