That singer was horrible. Jake....well...I loved Jake with Ozzy ...but in these clips....I thought Jake sounded uninspired and sloppy. I suck at guitar and for the most part have quit playing entirely. Jake reminded me of myself playing those songs. Ok, he was still better than me :)

You would think a club like that would have a decent sound system and someone who could run it. It's got that thing going on where the vocals drown out the whole band when ever there is singing. Sounds like a run of the mill shitty band in a run of the mill bar.

You're judging that from a cellphone or a small camera mic recording?

Yes I am. I've seen enough shitty bands in my life to the point that I can tell if a band sucks through a second hand description of a performance let alone a cell phone clip. That whole band sucks. I would question anyone who would disagree and can say that if you think this band plays and sounds good, you probably suck too. It's that bad. I would expect a hell of a lot more from an 80's Guitar Legend. I could drive out to East Bubblefuck Alabama and watch a band better than this lot.

I wasn't talking about the quality of the band but the quality of the mix.

Sorry. Then yes, that too. When the guy starts singing all I hear is loud vocals that seem to bury everything else. I'm afraid a good mix would only further highlight the lackluster performance though...

I have to agree that this performance was below par. The singer was exceptionally bad, but the rest of the band and guitar work was objectionable as well. You can tell that Jake is on the limit of his capacity by making mistakes and constantly looking down on his guitar. Also I think his sound was very dry (I'm aware that this is a cell phone recording), and has to much mids.

When OZZY sounds way better, you know the singer has to go!

Otherwise, love seeing Jake and his Charvel again!

So I was at the show, I thought jake played well. A bit sloppy yes but there were moments when you saw brilliance. This was the very first gig,so it can only get better. The singer has to go and so does the drummer. I felt poor Jake was fighting the band at all times. Enough said.

awesome to hear from someone who was actually there.... !!

It's been a while since I've played live and it's easy to forget what it's like trying to be at your best when the other guys are rough. Not giving Jake a free pass but all the pieces make the whole.

Can't believe all the critics we have here ...Wow you guys really like to pick apart anything you can...

Jake is now 56 years old and most likely hasn't played these Ozzy tunes songs in well over a decade... Why not put your money where your mouth is and post your rendition of these tunes since you obviously can do so much better ... :gethim:

I bet Jake is having a great time jamming these songs and guess what I bet he really doesn't give a fuck what you think.

Thanks Todd for posting this as I'm sure there are plenty of us who can just sit back relax and not nit pick every damn note or mistake and just enjoy it for what it is because last time I checked it wasn't 1984 anymore :D
Sorry man, but if it sucks it sucks and this is horrible. I call it as I see it… I can play Rock-N-Roll Rebel better… and I already posted it… I don't care how old he is, or what year it is, plenty of guys from that era can still play (Yngwie come to mind)… Either put up, or hang it up… no excuse to be this sloppy on shit you wrote. If he's having fun at a beer bar, fine, but I'm not interested in paying to see it...

I'm not a huge fan of Jake really and I don't know any of his Ozzy songs anymore but I'm sure I could play them just as bad as Jake can ;)

First show, in LA, probably nervous and not well rehearsed...hopefully they tighten up a bit but there were about 100 cover-bands playing Jake/Ozzy stuff 10x better than this back in my neck of the woods in the mid 80's.

I'm glad Jake is back out there, he still has tons of fans and I think he'll get better the more he plays out and gets comfortable onstage. They should look for a better frontman / vocalist or at least run him through auto-tune to auto-correct all the sour notes he nailed LOL

Oh man, been there, done that. It's true.

I think the internet as a whole is way critical in a huge unrealistic way.. Especially on this 80's douche, cork sniffing forum.

Most people should shut the fuck up instead of passing judgment behind the safety of their firewalls, as they sit on their asses sipping their fat fuck caffeinated drink, expecting a studio quality performance from a live show, recorded by some fucking tool that stands there filming the whole show on a cell phone instead of enjoying it with their own eyes.. You're all idiots.

This was a jam. Good to see Jake get back on his feet.

In ears with a click track, no shame in that game. I can't fucking stand a drummer that gradually keeps getting slower on slow songs. I remember a band where we played that slow song by Clapton, Wonderful Tonight. It kept getting slower... Argh!

You go to a show to have a good time. Who cares if it is played note for note as in the original song. If you want that kinda thing put on a cd or anything else on tape, hologram etc. There are enough other bands running with a tape in the background. Anyway, I do find the singer annoying. At least keep your shirt on, man.

No one cares about the recording quality. Everyone knows it's a crappy iPhone recording.
That's not what this discussion is about.

I was about a C.H. away from pulling the trigger on one of your amps but if you're into ridiculing people on an music forum then I have to rethink my strategy going forward.

I'm just happy to see Jake playing again, having a sig model guitar coming out and writing some new tunes. He will tighten up over time.I'm sure of it.
