Very cool. I always thought John Mayer was a douche, but he fit in real well with Weir when they were doing whatever it was after Jerry died. Either Rat Dog or Dead and co, whichever it was.

Hes a blues guy trying to play mainstream music.
No doubt hes a great player but even with straight blues he just doesn't do it for me

He's a dude that made his career on pop hits, then released the "Trio" album which was basically a blues-rock record with the worst popcorn snare drum sound ever put on wax, and he toured on it, playing blues-rock for girls there who wanted to hear "your body is a wonderland".

Nah i dont agree. His strat tone is incredible and he cut his teeth on blues shit.. mainly mimicking SRV
Hes good at it but like i said its not for me
Bonnamassa was like 11 when he won a national blues contest.

Only in the minds of people who can't name 15 blues artists without googling names is he anything even close to a blues guy. He's a pop star that can play blues guitar, who put out a blues-rock album, which isn't blues. Bonamassa readily admits he is not a blues artist but he has covered quite a bit of classic blues music in his recording career. Mayer hasn't.

Bonamassa has a huge catalog but only one song i REALLY like: different shades of blue.
Good for Mayer! No matter what you think of his music, that was a fine bit of humanity he showed.
