Very sad news. Picked up a few items from John over the years. Spoke over the phone a few times. Genuinely nice guy. My deepest condolences to his family.

So sad to hear this! John was good people. Had a few conversations with him over the years. When I was working for the VA, he had some questions about medical stuff related to where he did his Marine basic training and the water related health issues. Being an Army vet, and a VA RN I told him they will always turn down the first claim. Like any insurance related claim. But told him to keep at it. They will eventually give in.

Always enjoyed his sense of humor here! He will be missed!

Yikes @Rayneman I'm so-sorry for your loss brother.

I only just saw this now 'cause I haven't been around much for a couple o' months. Looking at my PMs I've had 14 conversations with John so whilst I didn't know him that-well, I felt like I knew him.

If I'm figuring this correctly he would've been 68, so not exactly a spring chicken but based on his attitude I'd have assumed he still had some ways to go. Must've been a Helluva shock man.

My heart goes out to you, Wifey, his Wifey and family and anyone who knew him well. He will absolutely be missed here at RT.

Yep 68. But, not "old guy 68" if that makes any sense. He had a few health issues, but pretty normal for someone in their 3rd quarter and definitely nothing that was even remotely life threatening. Very genuine what-you-see-is-what-you-get no games/bullshit dude who was hysterically funny and very much a guy's guy.

He will be laid to rest on Monday the 24th at a military cemetery in Ohio.

I mean that sucks...... He was a cool guy from the few times we talked here over post and down to Earth.


What a shame and heart goes out to friends and family. He seemed like one of those people that just made things better for other people and did nice things.


He also served in the Marines and for the country. God Bless John for his service to the country and for being a great human being as an example to the rest of us.



He may be gone but his spirit remains with us and the forum. RIP John, at the door of Pearly Gates ready for the next stage after playing on this one here on Earth.
