Hello,
I recently picked up a JSX to replace my 10 year old XXX. I needed an amp that was more versatile but still had that high-gain ultra lead tone for shredding. While I like the tone controls more on the JSX (I used to dial the XXX bass down to almost zero), I think the lead channel is missing something that the XXX red channel had. Some people would call this fizz, but when you play loud, it all smooths out and leaves you with a channel that is very "alive". (Also depends on speaker choice) When the JSX is cranked, it has a more classic, still high-gain sound, a bit more glassy, not as edgy.
I'd like to mod the JSX red channel to match the XXX red channel. I want to do the mods myself because I could get a used XXX and loop switcher for probably less than the mods would cost from a shop.
But I'd also like to use the "fat" switch as a way to A/B between the baseline channel and my mods (I dont use the fat with that much gain) Is there a way to utilize a single switch to change the values of multiple resistors?
I have read a few times that the difference between the XXX and JSX is just a few resistors. I'd like to find a switch that would allow me to A/B between stock and my changes.
Thanks and rock on!
