Awesome amp! Curious to hear from those who have owned both the MC and MC II. I've owned a MC, Two VC's, and two Metals. I've always felt that a big part of their exceptionally punchy, articulate, and in your face sound, was a result of the simple and pure signal path. I'm wondering how much that has been affected by all the new stuff on the MC II (bright switches, contour knob, saturation knob, fx loop, etc.). I just don't see how it can not be affected in some way.

wow man, where have you been?? like you I prefer the original circuit for the reasons you stated above- which is probably why he still offers the original design. I think the price is the same too. I have spoken to a few guys who have the new version and they like it as well. The term "smooth" has been used to describe the new transformers he is using on the m/c II and that gives me caution..traditional marshall tone is anything but smooth.

I've had my MC2 for 3 weeks, and smooth isn't a word I would use to describe it character. This thing has a bark that is intense. Like another fellow said earlier, I've never had an amp move air like this thing. Uncompressed and aggressive as hell. This amp get more gain than my Friedman SS-100, and gives my V30's a workout that leaves em Smoken and gasping for air. Clean channel is the same way...amazing and again, moving serious air!!
This is for me an amp that is at a whole other level. Amazed every time I switch it on. Wow!
The term smooth is used when comparing an older MC to the new MCII. I felt the comparison is correct having owned both. The MCII is just a little smoother to the older model I owned. The older model had more of a piecing tone the MCII does not have. Smooth might not be the correct word but the MCII is smoother around the edges so to speak. Loop is very good Paul. The whole amp is. Just a huge sounding head with great tone and zero ghosting.
Sorry man,
Wasn't knocking your description here and having had both amps, you definitely have a better take on the sonic differences. It was more the cautionary stance at the end. This is the best sounding amp I've ever played. I actually like the fact that is can do the Acdc thing, but can go further into higher gain territory. No double the vintage version I'm sure nails the Malcolm and Angus tone to a T. I needed and amp that has more gain but still as that open, not as compressed air moving character to it. I've got it now. I find that I have to get the master volume to 11 o'clock to get the vibe happening. Still toying with the effect send and return knobs.
Pulled the chassis last night and the wire job under the hood is unbelievable. Clean, simple , uncluttered, immaculate. I'd post a pic, but I did that once with my SS100 and the haters came out of the wood work.
Any suggestions on the best way to post sound clips on here? I want you guys to hear this thing sing!

Good looking amp, I really want to try one of these but just never ran into someone that owns one. If you are ever in the VA area let me know would love to check it out.

Not at all Bro. Im happy for you. Smooth is just a word to use to describe the difference. Not sure what the correct word.

Glad you are liking your new amp!!! I have two with the A transformers and two more with the C transformers... they are all from circa 2010. The A was supposed to be "smoother" than the C but honestly, I cannot hear that much of a difference between the two. If you talk to rick he will tell you the overdrive channel is the same in both versions... I would be curious to know just how much of a differnce the V transformer makes to the total sound... I'm thinking marginal at best. These amps are the ultimate for me.
