Went to our very own Hard&Heavy's house. Greg is a great dude! Greg I cannot thank you enough for your time. Greg had the following amps, the new 20th Anni Bogner Uberschall and Shiva, Diezel Einstien and Herbert, Some model of 65 Amps and an Elmwood M90.

Plugged into the Diezel Einstien first. Very happening hardrock 80's metal tone. Singing and punchy tone. I dug it alot.

Next up was the new Bogner Uberschall twin Jet. The clean channel was way different from the Uber(Rev 2) I had. Had more life to it and could get a killer hard rock tone. Channel 2 was insane. Very aggressive and nasty. Tight and all the gain and sustain you could ask for.

Then we jumped to the Herbert. The clean channel was way nicer than most high gain channel switchers. Pretty surprised by just how good this clean was quite frankly. Greg then switched it to ch2. Awesome tone here fellas. Could go from a Marshall-like bark to a balls out 80's shred tone. Probably my favorite channel on the Herbert. Then we went to channel 3. What a beast! I actually think its more aggressive than the Uber if thats even possible. The sickest metal tone I've ever heard without question. I honestly feel like the is the one amp that can truely cover all bases extremely well. If you have the cash this amp is a must try at the very least.

Next up the new 20th Anni Bogner Shiva. Beautiful clean. Seriously sweet tone here. Ch2 gets more aggressive than I remember the Shiva being. Not a modern metal amp but easily a hard rock 80's metal amp. Will also do Led Zep and classic rock about as good as anything I've heard. Neat amp. It's unique but very cool.

Then he plugged me into his 65. This is a Class A amp. Sweet sweet cleans to tone that was just breaking up. Beatles to Tom Petty can be had here. Also country dudes would prolly love this amp.

Then lastly the Elmwood M90. This was/is hands down the best amp I've ever played through!!!! If the devil was a shredder this would be his amp. I had a total blast playing through the Elmwood. The notes sang and the sustain seemed infinte. The tone was perfect to my ears. Kinda like an Slo without the ear pick, fatter and more saturated. I played one chord and knew I preferred this amp to the others, which is saying something considering how great his other amps sounded. Why Lynch and DiMartini aren't using this amp is a mystery to me. All 80's metal head and shredders, if you haven't already, go try this amp. My favorite amp to date!!!

Thanks again Greg.

And here is the guitar that Greg handed me to use

I fixed it. Had the two names confused. No the Herbert was a do-it-all high gain monster. Everything it did was just incredible.

The voicing of the M90 is insane !! the gain sounds like nothing else to me, very fresh to my ears at least. I don't get tired of Herbert tho... ;p

I'm glad you guys had a great time!!

Jim.
Thanks for coming over it was nice to meet a fellow rig talker, dude you are a great player and I really enjoyed your playing made me realize it's time to quit playing bass for everyone and get hard and heavy on the guitar again. After you left I played for an hour working the chops. I am glad that you enjoyed playing all the amps and the invite is open to you and all R.T's to come over anytime and play and just hang out.

Greg

I love the new Bogners. The new Shiva is an awesome amp. I got to spend a few hours with the new Uber this weekend as well. I think it is a big improvement over the older versions.

Can't say that I really like the Diezels though. ;)

You are to kind Greg. By the way I keep looking at the uper right section of your avater. Damn that amp is all I want from an amp. I told Bill the herbert is the best all around, do it all amp I know of. That amp is a total beast in a so many ways. But the Elmwood is me. Thats the tone and feel I want. That amp is it!!!

Yep a very fun day. Greg is to cool for alowing me to come over and play his amps. The Herbert is an amzing amp. Seems like there is nothing that amp can't do and do very well. Ever try an Elmwood?

If you can afford one... I doubt you'll need another amp. It does it all.

The Fireball 100 isn't holding you over any longer? :D
Ever since I played an old white chassis XTC and a VH4, I can't get the sound of either out of my head. I'd love to try a Herbert and the new Bogner stuff too. When I tried an Elmwood M90 it just didn't feel right to me...it was too grainy sounding. But that could have been the cab-some kind of 212, forgot what one.

I tried the Elmwoods at the NY amp show. I liked them. But i didn't walk away thinking they were the best amps i played, in fact the Cameron's made me forget about them soon afterwards. But i do recall playing the Wizard amps right after the Elmwoods, the Wizards are LOUD
