Just purchased a VH4

Got it from Matt's Music who have always taken care of me. They said a possible turn around time of 2 weeks but whenever it arrives it's going right in to the lineup. This is going to be really fun!

Peter got it right the first time.
If you are having a hard time digging it experiment with different tubes,
Tubes change this amp drastically.
I hate KT77s they feel stiff and are too linear ,
mine comes alive with JJ 6L6's.
EL34BSTR's are a great choice if you need the EL34 sound.

I've actually never played a JJ KT77 but I am using EL34B's in my Splawn Nitro.

I might be the minority in this but I LOVE JJ E34L's in mine. I had 6550's and it was so damn bassy I was stomping on the bass player every other riff. I don't use much bass either

I really like the KT77. Probably my favorite power tube of those i've tried with the VH4. : E34, E34L & 6L6. Not tried the 6550 or KT88. It's mostly a matter of personal taste & tube reliability.

Peter ships these amps with JJ KT77, which is a comforting endorsement.

Congrats - great amp! I got one recently and I can't stop playing it, even beat my Herbert into number 2 position at the moment, which is unheard of!

I've got JJ KT77's too and I like them
