Laney Paul Gilbert add

Ratt used Laney when I saw them on the Cellar tour. Whitesnake opened (slide it in album so they had not broke out big yet). I figure Ratt heard the story of EVH losing his prized vintage Marshalls on a pan am flight and did not want to take their best amps out.

Hmm, didn’t we see a GC vid where he played Snortin Whiskey?
Looks pretty much the same albeit in his 50s, like most of us who grew up in the 80s.

I am not bad mouthing him at all. Just looks WAY different the last time I saw him. Regardless, he kicks ass. His Dio tribute album dropped yesterday- already got my cd.. Love Holy Diver, Heaven and Hell, and The Last In Line. Enjoy

Cause they were not good sounding. I tried an AOR100 head single channel. Had push pull pots on a bunch of controls. Never could get a tone I liked out of it playing with the band.
At the shop I taught at the time got in one of the dual channel combos, again push pulls on everything and it weighed about a thousand pounds. That combo was terrible.

Im sure someone got tone out of those, I couldn’t though. Was hoping that head would do it cause it had an fx loop. The old Marshalls I was using didn’t.

I had a Voodoo modded AOR. I flipped that thing faster than a pancake. Ugh. Maybe it was the Voodoo mod? But it was terrible.

You said what I came to comment on. Killer heads but they have to be cranked to stupid pro-level loudness to sound their best. Anything low volume or mediocre band level even makes the amp sound like a sonic mess. Laneys are not for bedroom players and are designed to be cranked stupid loud.

The gh100s is legit a 2203 with a 4th gain stage and slow start circuit all built into a single amp. I love my gh100s with or without a boost. It brings the goods.

I couldn't take one minute of this shit. His day has come and gone. Resorts to shit like this. The Shit-Winds are strong with this release.

I was kinda of stoked to check this album out but I thought it would have had vocals

Yeah I play my 50 with the Master around noon through a Captor X and it sounds fantastic. Its interesting to hear the amp go through a massive tone change from 2-4 on the master volume. Lately its been 6 on master, 6 on the gain, EQ mostly dimed, and drive section off.

I kind of get the impression he did this for fun as a Dio fan. I assume mostly recorded it at home and didn’t spend a ton on it, I could be wrong. I think he is a phenomenal player but I agree a whole album of him playing the vocal melodies on guitar doesn’t appeal to me. He can sing too so is odd. Only saw him live once and it was at Wacken open air in ‘18. But it’s a little like Nuno for me, I think they’re both great just not a big fan of Mr. Big or Extreme.
 
I also think he has some great tones on record, fuzz universe (2010) in particular. I think instrumental shred albums are tough to hold people’s interest and he does a better job with that than most.
