Back in the day when he was new I listened to him a lot more. I always felt he was solid, but never great. He has written some cool songs and I dig him. I always wished he had a better guitar player on his rockers. I found out much later that he did not even write my fav song on his records but his version is still superior (Fields of Joy). I really detest his version of American Woman and also hate the song Fly Away.

Might be just not my cup of tea. I mean that run was cool, but just that, generic to a degree. I am not the best expert though, so take my judgement with a a truck of salt.
