Yeah it was beautiful to look at. But it was just thin and harsh and lifeless. I tried a pickup/electronics swap. But that didn't change anything. My customs (Norlins, even) sound massively thick and raunchy and authoritative and still have a sweetness to them. I that that R9 would have sounded better than it did, given how people talk about Historics.

I was going through some of my stuff tonight, saw one of my Les Pauls and remembered this thread. I thought I would grab three of my Customs and snap a few quick pics to post up. Lousy camera phone, even lousier lighting - my apologies.

That white one on the right is sweet. I had one on hold at a local shop as an over the phone deal. I got there and cancelled it. It had so many issues that QC should have caught and didn't that it probably should have been a second. Binding issues were one of the biggest flaws. Needless to say I was quite bummed. I will find one that is sweet one day.

Just got my Blue custom this last Friday and i`m very disappointed in the QC!!!!

What`s with the binding issues? Nothing is leveled, you feel the gap everywhere. Unacceptable on a $4000 guitar. I have an `02 Dean Cadillac 25th and man is that guitar on a pro level. Everything is perfect, you cannot feel the binding anywhere.

Just wrote a memo to my salesman stating my issues with the guitar.

Might return it damn it, i`m bummed about it.

Why would the builder want to stay anonymous? Is this just a one off and he doesn't want to build more guitars? Does he not want my money?
