JCM 2000 may be Marshalls best amp

Completely agree and for the price you can pick 'em up for... incredible.
   apparently you dudes haven't played a real Marshall.

Tone is in the gear.

EL-84s are good tubes.

G12-T75 is a fantastic speaker for rock and metal.

Nickelback's recorded guitar tone kills.

1. The first three Metallica albums were awesome, the rest suck
2. I love Ted Nugent, hate his politics
3. Les Paul Customs are AWSOME tone machines
4. Marshall invented the rock tone, other just try to copy it
5. Leo Fender was a genius
6. 90's music sucks, bad!

A few more:

Phil Rudd is one of the best rock drummers ever.
George Lynch never did anything for me.
Akira Takasaki is the best metal player ever.
Telecaster necks suck.
MIM Strats are better than American Standards.
Metallica's Black Album is their best.
Jump is VH's worst song.
Jimmy Page is a sloppy player.
Eric Johnson is usually great, but sometimes has really off nights.
I don't get Motorhead, but Lemmy was still a hero.
The Foo Fighters have two too many guitarists.
Brian Adams is effin amazing.
Chrissie Hynde is hot.
Joe Perry is overrated.

EVH hung (is hanging) onto the breakdancing paintjob way too long
Eric Clapton, SRV, and Santana are boring
Rhoads > EVH
Suhr guitars are overpriced and uninteresting.
Suhr amps are great
A guitar should not be dismissed (or purchased) because of headstock shape
It doesn't matter if an amp looks ugly
Joe Satriani's music is boring though it is more listenable than Steve Vai's
Rob Chapman is not funny or useful.
Duo gear reviewers slapping each other in the balls on youtube are annoying (see above)
Paul from Guitar World > The Tone King > Rob Chapman
"Bulb" Jackson guitars should not exist
I love Carl's forum contributions

:D
- The 90's are a black hole for rock
- The 2ks and 2k10s (present) are black holes for music in general
- Very little good music has been made since 1990 (compared to previous decades)
- the music world needs a 1970's revival
- hearing the same ol' chugga-chugga modern metal riffs on forums bores me
- metal's cool (well, old metal) but seriously, don't forum guitarists play anything besides metal anymore?
- love Da Nuge, love his politics
- Kirk Hammett doesn't belong at all on the Rolling Stone Top 100 Guitarists Of All-Time list
- cookie-monster metal... what's the fuggin' deal?
- Spinal Tap is scarier than Slayer
- Bruce Springsteen sucks. Can't play, can't sing
- Diezel? Bogner? chugga-chugga-who-fucking-cares? Marshall. Fender.
- When tweaked correctly, BIAS sounds more realistic & dynamic than any AxeFX I've heard
- poseurs - the guitar-playing world will always be full of them
- the guitar-playing world needs more Satchels
- tone is in the mic preamp, proper EQ, compression and (if you have it) tape. And sometimes in the Harmonizer, delay and reverb too

High quality copies are still copies. I wouldn't wear a pair of bootleg Air Jordans, and I wouldn't play an Edwards Les Paul or a Nash Tele.

Only the tip of my cynical iceberg..

I'm right with you on these...
AC/DC died when Bon Scott died
Def Leppard's sound IS Pete Willis and Steve Clark
Dave Mustaine is a pompous ass and cant sing worth a shite
Black Sabbath Mob Rules album is heavy, even in 2016

Buuut... as much as I love them I've gotta disagree with this.
There will never be another metal guitar duo as good as KK and Glenn

Their music probably isn't your thing but you should give the boys in Unearth a listen. Especially their early stuff. Buzz and Ken are both incredible guitarists in their own right but together they are godly!
Just sayin'.

- you could literally hoe with an Ernie Ball guitar turned upside-down

bands:

- Def Leppard died after Pyromania
- Foreigner died after 4
- Metallica died after And Justice For All
- Journey died after Frontiers
- REO Speedwagon died after Hi Infidelity
- Aerosmith died halfway through the recording of Permanent Vacation
- Judas Priest's Painkiller proves Glen & K.K. took lessons from Yngwie
- KISS is full of schlock and cheese, but you gotta love 'em
- Back In Black is the best AC/DC album (fact: and one of the best albums of all-time)
- DLR was never a singer, but without him, VH would never have existed as they are now
- lots of people nowadays say they hate Randy's tone on Blizzard, but when Crazy Train came on the radio in the early 80s, they were blown away by the tone (and playing)
- Dokken's first album (Breaking The Chains) is surprisingly good (it grows on you)
- Chet Thompson is probably the most under-rated 80s metal guitarist

I'd rather be a great song writer rather than a great guitarist... I'm neither, lol.

Agreed. I still try, but I'm not holding my breath for a hit song in this lifetime.

List your musical opinions you know make people salty because it isn't their opinion.

- Dimebag was good, nothing amazing, shot to god status by dying, shredding pentatonics and doing divebombs isn't godly
- Most modern metal/rock recordings today sound the same, the singing usually is the indicator of what band you are listening to, not tone etc
- Mordern digital recording techniques save money and time but rarely produce legendary rock albums
- My favorite album by Rush is Power Windows
- Iron Maiden haven't produced a good album since Somewhere In Time
- EVH makes alot of mistakes live and I never liked his tone
- Most revived rock bands from back in the day make crap music now a days
- Too many people buy thousands of dollars on studio equipment and boutique amps... talk about how amazing their gear is... but never have any recordings
- I like gated and verby drums
- My best sounding guitar is a 250$ Les Paul copy with JBs, sounds better than the 1k+ LPs I've played and my friends own

Fixed.

Really? Have you really listened to Brave New World? There are some great tunes on there. I've seen Maiden twice in the past six years and one of the highlights for me of both of those shows was "Blood Brothers"... and I'm a fan going way back to NotB and PoM. I list most of their albums since Bruce came back. Final Frontier is a great album too. PoM will always be my favorite, but they've done some great stuff since the 80s (unlike the majority of other bands from that era).

I just can't get into them since. They started to lose me on 7th Son.

The Beatles are a stupid, shitty band. Ahhhh that feels so good to say out loud yessssss

The rock world sucks for not realizing how insanely awesome Gary Richrath was a guitar player.

Not sure if this is relegated solely to the unpopular opinions in the microcosm of RT or if we are doing it in a more universal way but you can tell which apply where:

-EBMM JP guitars are soulless toneless planks, no pickup can make it sound reasonably decent. The ones I've owned didn't even play that well.
-EBMM's best guitar is probably the Luke III
-Steinberger guitars are awesome, and anyone who uses them is automatically cool
-Too much focus is paid to the wankery guitar gods of the 80s yet Johnny Marr and Andy Summers go totally unmentioned. They revolutionized music more than any guy in tight spandex
-That being said I still like hearing Motley Crue from time to time, they wrote some really catchy songs
-Pantera had a few great songs, and Dime has a cool style but he doesn't deserve the reverence he received
-Bark Psychosis's Hex is probably the most artistically relevant piece of music released in the '90s
-Guns 'n Roses is unlistenable, not sure if radio caused this or it is just a fact
-AC/DC shouldn't exist without Malcom in the band, have some respect
-Red Hot Chili Peppers were never cool
-If you spent more than $700 on a Gibson Les Paul you got fleeced, there are Japanese brands that make them better plain and simple
-Soundgarden is just Led Zeppelin drawn to its logical conclusion, not a bad thing
-Rush's Caress of Steel is a cool album
-Listen to rap, you can pickup a bit on interesting rhythmic form and use of tuplets (not just triplets)
-Guitarist should learn a little bit about synthesis to get a handle on tones, texture, and timbre
-Sepultura's Arise is the best thrash album released
-Use the damn volume control on your guitar for more than an OFF switch
-Jan Hammer has more "guitar" melodic sense and intuition than 99.9% of guitarists
-Fair Warning is by far the best VH album and get over it it was just a humbucker equipped strat into a Marshall with a variac end of topic lock it up!

Best is David Coverdale.

Guitarists make the most mistakes during a gig.

Purple Rain is the most boring song of all time.
Anyone who covers Purple Rain should go to jail forever.
I liked GNR with Buckethead.
Steve Vai is unlistenable.
Satch is unlistenable.
Steve Vai ruined Slip of the Tongue.
The only good looking guitar EBMM ever made was the Axis. All the other models look fat, stupid, and dumpy as fuck.
The Carvin Legacy is the most uninspiring amp ever made.
Aside from the JSX Satch hasn't accomplished anything worthwhile.
