Theory and scales are boring....especially live
Duncan pickups are awful.........Dimarzio are workable if you weed through the new garbage........Gibson and BKP are where it's at
More pickups.....the Duncan Custom is a thin, weedy POS.........add the W*R *******
G12T-75's are great.....G12-65's are overhyped, nasal junk.......a step above Rocket 50's
All H magnet speakers are worthless

- flame/figured tops are way over-rated and incredibly cliche'. Many times a solid/metalflake color looks better than gaudy flame/figured on guitars (Les Pauls, SGs etc) because it shows the curves better. Plus, you're not playing a fancy piece of furniture, FFS.

I know this is a judgement-free zone ( ) so I'm not judging, but can one of you go into a little more detail on this opinion? I mean, I understand not liking veneer, but what's so gaudy about a pretty piece of real wood on a wooden instrument? I love figuring because I find it beautiful and relatively rare (the really good pieces that is), not because it's flashy. It's a love of wood thing, not a love of bling thing for many, I think?

I'll tell you what I do fucking hate, though, and that's bullshit mismatched/unmatched tops. Strong figuring on both sides? Great. Plain wood on both sides? Wonderful. But mismatched? Fuck. You.

I'd probably have to kill myself if someone gave me this guitar. Actually, I probably wouldn't even get the chance to kill myself because my head would have already exploded when I opened the case.

- Lots of the "classic album tones" people chase are not THAT great, you were only tricked into thinking these are great because the songs are good. But you don't have their songwriting skills so it'd be pointless just chasing for these tones.
