Listening to old songs of yours

Sometimes you listen to old songs and it’s wild to hear something and be like that was actually pretty decent
For my seeeping students : at 1:49 I show how they can be users melodically even though I’m still doing 5 string sweeps fast as fuck . But ya I don’t really like my tone on it though at all . So some good and some bad wheh you look back . But 1:49 I do still think was cool

Techdeth, good playing. Not a fan of the style of vocals, sounds like you all were good players, the vocals though….had to skip ahead to where you posted.

I was in a band back in 2000-01, and we recorded a CD. Wasn't very good.

I also have some solo stuff from back in the day that also sounds hideous.

How I feel about my old stuff depends on whether it was just a band I was in, a band I was writing in, or my own solo stuff.

As far as just bands I played in where I wasn't the main writer? Hit and miss. Some of them (my old emo band) was actually really good for the genre.

Most bands I wrote for? Generally holds up well; I wouldn't have written it if I didn't like what was going on.

My solo stuff that's all written and recorded by me? Honestly get really surprised at how much I like it. Especially the older stuff. I was a little less technically proficient but full of ideas.

As far as your track goes tech, I've heard it a bunch of times before. The guitar playing is great. The songwriting I can kind of take or leave, it's either not my kind of metal or I just don't see much that's awesome or interesting about it. On the plus side, that makes your leads stick out even more as being really good in comparison to the songwriting. The vocals could probably work in the right context but I don't think this is it.

Usually means a new tone (gear) and likely a different tuning, but the core idea is still there.

My first band right out of high school. This was our first real DIY recording attempt, about 20 years ago.

We did the local weekend warrior thing for a while, I wish I had stopped to enjoy & appreciate it more.

I like listening to most of my own stuff tbh, it came from my imagination so i suppose I should do

Even if it doesn't measure up to what I can do now, it's still interesting to hear the progression in playing and songwriting (Being generous with that second one btw).

Love the breakdown. Don't hate the vocals at all. Solo kills. And your tone is just a little more old school. Nothing wrong with it. I would listen to an album
