As much as I like older STP stuff, Weiland is a irresponsible douchebag. The Delio brothers and Eric Kretz are way to good for his shit.

As much as I agree with you about Weiland, his voice and style is STP.

Now I know AIC has a new singer, was new who sounds very close to Layne Staley but he died and to me AIC is still great but I miss LS.

Singers are a special bread and there douche ness is sometimes what makes the band/music great. Im sure if Jim Morrison was still alive acting the way he did he wouldn't be liked as much anymore, but that is what made him him.

Yeah, yeah, he's a great talent, blah blah blah. Did you guys listen to the last album? Horrible!!!!! Really really horrible. He is a fantastic singer and yes, a good frontman (or any true artist) is supposed to be a little unstable, but they obviously weren't clicking on their last effort. I'm not too bummed about this. STP died a long time ago. Wooooord.

TheDeLeo bros have great skills in the context of STP. Some great guitar. Stripped back a bit and perfect for serving the song. That last album wasn't my fav. As far as younger people not knowing the songs, 25 year olds for the most part know Core, at least the ones I know.

The idea of a band stopping because a member died, as in Metallica, AIC, or left, like STP... That is strange. You don't change your last name if someone in your family dies. You continue on. The family or the band has a different dynamic. I'm sure those guys are just like us, they play because they want to, self actualization. Thinking they should stop because some self important fan thinks they are not the same is insane. Like some fan thinks the band exists for their approval.... That shit is stalker thinking.

I still watch the STP concert on VH1. Damn good show. Love the guitar tone and straight ahead style.
