^^I saw that and feel the same.. I had no idea who the guy was though, to me he is a no name.. but yeah, not cool unless they agreed to something like this beforehand

I've seen Ira Black perform with Vicious Rumors onstage at Bone Festival second stage at the Chronicle Pavilion in Concord, CA years ago. He's from Sacramento, CA and has been in the more well known northern California metal bands from this area. I respect his talent & ambition, but felt his need to musically step on George Lynch wasn't called for.

Damn, Lynch is one of my faves, but had NO idea he was such an asshole. Huge let down, really

Being a George Lynch/Dokken fan, I was happy to see this video with Don & George putting their differences aside for a jam. I couldn't help it though that the other guitarist Ira Black was musically trying to upstage Lynch during his solo by playing the solo at the same time Lynch was soloing. I thought it was pretty rude of Ira Black of stepping on Lynch's toes, musically speaking, by not allowing to share the stage as a musical guest. I can understand being competitive & showcasing your talent, but upstaging a musical guest isn't cool or shows that you're better than the other musicians. The rhythm section played great, but I look at Ira Black as a douchebag for not showing any musical respect to Lynch onstage.

Guitar George

Anybody know when this was recorded?

The audio is ass... to much static/fizz. Sucks too cause I'd love to hear GL thru the MZero amps.

The other guy needs to cut his hair or tie it back... something... I'm all for long hair... when it interferes with your playing... enough. We get it, you like rock/metal. We feel ya.

It looks like it was recorded at one of the NAMM 2018 after party all star jam type of event and was posted on YouTube over a week ago. The video was recorded with a smartphone with the guy probably standing in the audience which was probably why the audio has static & fizz in it. It is what it is at the moment concerning the audio.

Guitar George

This was at one of the Ballrooms at the Hilton on Namm weekend. No idea what was up with the guy at the board, but the sound absolutely sucked the whole night! I thought as the show went on, the guy would eventually get it together, but it never happened. Total bummer. As for George, I ran into him a few hours before this performance and he seemed pleasant enough. No bad vibes to speak of, but then again, we all have our moments I guess.

I saw that the other day and was going to say the same thing. For the other song it looked like they were working together more.

And one other point about this Ira Black guy. I'll agree that the guy can burn and is probably a great guy but he'll never be a Lynch. That is why when people compare players from the past with newer guys, I always say it is an unfair comparison. It is easy for a guy like that to be awesome with all of the tone knowledge we all have now, the Internet, scale lessons, etc. all over the place. When the original guitar heroes paved the way, there was a handful of them and everyone knew who they were. Anyone around my age knows Rhoads, VH, Lynch, DeMartini, Yngwie, and a few more were the names you were hearing often back then. You hear players now and you can link their playing to one of those guys.

The guy paints his nails black FFS... :aww:
Just because it's your last name/stage name/whatevs... :gay:

You still don't have any idea, because you've never met him and don't know him.

Here is a better video from George's side of the stage. Sounds much better and can see the interaction between people better.

I can't even get myself to watch any of his vids anymore. I want to remember him the way I remember him.

There was a time when I would geek out over meeting someone like Lynch, but those days are gone. It seems silly to me these days. He’s a human being, like us, who just happens to have an immense talent for playing rock guitar and who had the right look and was at the right place at the right time in the right decade. I’ve met many talented guitar players who live in obscurity. I’m sure you guys have, too. There are many very talented guitarists on this forum. I’m NOT knocking anyone who would want to meet the guy and get his autograph. If that’s your thing, that’s your thing. I’m saying all this as a Lynch fan.

Thank you for the kind words, we all human being, no one is perfect. ^^

Neither I wish now.

Well, it's sad that you form your opinion on someone based on a couple of random, unfounded posts by internet strangers. What about the positive stories like mine? He was cool to everyone in attendance, and to me personally. Very friendly, not at all rude. Do you just dismiss that and assume he's a big jerk because he was supposedly cranky to someone you don't even know? What if that person was being pushy or rude to George? What if they just made it up, or got it all wrong? That's all it took? Sad.

To me kindness is all that matters when it comes to meetin new people, especially artists that influenced me, I far prefer keepin a picture of him in my mind as a great guitarist rather than havin for whatever reason (people have problems right?) an unpleasant meeting and ruining everything I know about him now. It happened too many times already, and it's something that really kills me.

Like I said, you have never personally met him, and you have no idea what these people are saying is even true or what happened. Don't believe everything you read, and remember there are two sides to every story. What if someone died in his family, and that's why he "stormed off"? Would you still blame him?

I see you point, but I can't find any reason why forum members should tell fake stories about him being a dick, that'd be stupid if untrue. About the death in his family thing, honestly even if I met him in person and he acted rude because of that, I wouldn't know and I'd judge him accordingly anyway.

I've met him a bunch of times and he was always cool to me (and everyone else). Signed a pile of guitars for me (half his own sig ESPs and some non sig ESPs), and had a great sense of humor. He's human, shit happens.
