NCD DV Mark 4x12?

The guitarist in my buddy's band got a new cab. It's a DV Mark Neoclassic 412. He was so happy because it is a lot lighter than his Mesa Rectifier cab. It had Neodymium speakers in it. He likes that it's more punchy than his Mesa cab. It's made out of poplar instead of birch. It's so much lighter than his Mesa cab.

I went to their rehearsal last night to buy his old Mesa cab. I got to hear his new cab. I don't like it. It's all hiss and twang, and has no meat to it. I told him it's missing the V30 midrange. He's happy because it's lighter than his Mesa cab.

I bought his old '99-'00 Mesa Rectifier Slant cab. I'll put it to good use.

Maybe he can fix his tone with the EQ pedal he has in the loop.

He made the 'new sound' mistake. You hear something new and it sounds 'better' only to realize later most of the time that it in fact - does not. Score for you!

Mesa cabs are pretty much indestructible, and usually make any amp head sound great. .

I briefly owned a DV Mark Multiamp back in the day because I figured an Axe-FXesque device with a built in power amp would be rad

Ended up returning it; I felt like nothing it did was good enough to justify the price lol

I have a DV Mark Neo cab that is from the original run with the B&C speakers.

It is fricken AWESOME,!!!

Much like EVs, it doesn't colour the sound much and lets the amp's true nature come through. Very high power handling, the speakers can take ANYTHING you throw at them.

Bonus is the 4x12 weighs a Featherlite 47lbs.

EDIT: I believe DV Mark is using its own speakers in theee cabs now, if so, they might sound different than mine?!?

I don't know how the construction of the DV Marks is with their weird plywood. But I did recently pick up the newer Orange 212V, which is using thinned plywood and Neo Creambacks for a 44 lbs total. That cab is epic sounding imo, keeping in mind it's an open back setup. I adore it, though it's very weird to get a lightweight cab from orange of all people.

DV Mark uses Itallian Birch plywood.
