The other day I came across this video and the guy nailed completely the Malmsteen's tone of that famous REH VHS instructional video.
Not even Yngwie himself can get that tone anymore. I don't have words to say how freaking awesome it is.

So I plugged a strato into a DSL50, made some adjustments with a EQ pedal in front of the green channel (to change a few frequencies to make it sound a bit more vintage) and used a DOD308. I know that the DiMarzio HS-3 is an important part of the equation and a vintage DOD 250 would be a better choice, but I have seen a lot of guys using vintage Marshalls and getting horrible results. I eventually got a nice strat tone, but it was way far from that video tone.
Since I'm considering buying a plexi or a clone, here are the questions:
1. Does anybody here has got a similar tone with a plexi or JMP?
2. Is it possible to get that tone with a Metroplex?
