Mark heads with & without GEQ

I don't have a C+ (yet) but for what it's worth I can get great metal tones out my III+ and IV with the EQ turned off. When going for Metallica style scooped tones obviously I'll turn on the EQ but a lot of times I find myself riffing without the EQ engaged. Feels more raw and a bit less stiff, could definitely have one of these without the GEQ and use it as a full blown metal amp but GEQ gives you more options so never a bad thing to have.

All depends if you going for the Metallica tone or just looking for a good metal tone that pleases your ears, the latter can be achieved very well without the GEQ.

Would be interesting to hear some clips. I'll try to record one myself with the III+ without the GEQ to show some metal tones i've been using.

^ yeah, for my ears when I play them, they sound mean as hell without the GEQ. The GEQ seems to do the Metallica thing, and they obviously sound incredible, but it’s never worked for me for whatever reason.
