Alter Bridge was great... sad they are on the back burner.. i think i liked the first cd better.

Tremonti might not be Petrucci playing wise, but he can write more commercial (translation $$$) tunes. it's not that easy to write memorable catchy songs...

IMO the new Alterbridge record is one the best of 2008
Great album combining good melody, riffage and cool guitar work.

Yeah, Blackbird was one of the best albums overall I heard in quite a while.

I like the AB stuff, and the Creed stuff  For some reason they are frowned at in metal circles, but I always thought they did pretty good, considering they came out, and did their own thing in the midst of the alternative onslaught, which I absolutley HATED. The guy has a great tone IMO. They were the anti-nirvana

I never really gave them much of a chance.

I always thought of the singer as ripping off Eddie Vedder... not really avoiding the grunge thing, like you mentioned.

I guess we all have different ears.

eddie vedder with 2 more octaves in his vocal range!

Great player and writer. Great sence of melody. I guess he just got "over exposed" in the guitar magazines, probably has more guitar mag covers to his credit than any other player.

Funny how people put down Creed in general. Seems like everybody hates them now, but they sure sold a ton of cds.

always liked his guitar playing...

What if might be my favorite creed song along with ONE.

I think he's gotten better at playing lead stuff since his Creed days. I admit I like some of his riffs/playing.
Yeah, his leads were pretty dismal, I liked his rhythm work, good riding music ;) Uh.... a shred background? hmmm.. I'll have to let that one go

He is worth too much money to bother "playing", or "giving a shit"....that is for poor people...

JK!

I don't personally ever read or hear ANYONE talk about Creed nowadays. I liked them back when they were out, but they're pretty much forgotten as far as I can tell.

I started posted on music forums like HCAF around 2002. At that time every other thread bashed Creed. I listened to a lot of popular music because i had to learn new songs every week for the cover band circuit. I never thought Creed was that bad so i was suprised to see how bitter everyone was over them. And now that i think of it, most of the metal bands all the tools talked up on HCAF back then never went anywhere.

It is funny to hear some of the comments about Mark. I guess people hate success and will say what they can to bash somebody, or so it seems with all the negative forum talk here and elsewhere. Coming from a guy who knows Mark, his love for music and playing guitar I can not tell you of a harder working guitar player. He plays and practices about 6 hours a day and constantly tries learning something new to improve his skills. He is incredibly genuine and sincere and is one of the nicest people I know. Mark is honest enough and humble enough to admit what he can and can not do. His playing over the last 7 years has radically improved because of his work ethic and who he associates with. He is not afraid to ask for help and then when he gets that help he works on that aspect. He is self taught as a player and IMO is one of the best songwriter's of our time. His ability to write memorable riffs in conjunction with songs and melody are tough to beat. It has always been about serving the song with him and I admire that about him. He has penned some wonderful songs. Alter Bridge is a better band then Creed and the latest Alter Bridge album (Balckbird) is a fantastic record and showcase of his playing and lead work. Myles Kennedy is the best singer in rock and roll and is leaps and bounds better then Scott Stapp ever hoped of being. If you are not familiar with Myles, check his stuff out with Alter Bridge or The Mayfield Four. The guy can flat out sing and will release solo project soon as well later this year it looks like. Back to the Tremonti side of things...don't kid yourself, the guy can play.

Agreed, I felt they brought heavy rock back to the mainstream when I had almost given up on radio music. It was nice to hear some good riffs, and great songwriting. I never thought Blackbird got the attention it deserved, its a great album

I'll have to go back and pay more attention to the article, but I thought I read something about him never saying "never", but nothing was in the works?

Yeah, well, you know how often "never" comes around in the music biz:

Creed Reunites, Readies New Album & Tour

It’s finally official: Creed is together once again, about to hit the studio to record a brand new album of music, tentatively titled Full Circle, and planning a summer tour, according to People.com.

After six years apart and lots of rumors and innuendo, singer Scott Stapp, guitarist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips have apparently buried the hatchet and will reunite for what will undoubtedly be one of the summer’s biggest concert draws.

Rolling Stone.com reports that the band will soon begin recording the new album in Nashville, and has reached out to several producers, including Brendan O' Brien, Mutt Lange, Bob Rock and Steve Lillywhite.

“We never felt like we weren't together,” frontman Stapp told People. “We're not looking at this as a reunion. It's more of a rebirth.”

The band apparently stayed in touch with each other throughout the hiatus with “holiday cards and the occasional phone call,” but it was Stapp who initially reached out to the other guys about getting back together, according to People.com.

“I said, ‘I love you and if I've ever caused you any pain in your life forgive me.’ And they said the same things right back,” Stapp said. “The music is fresh, edgy, raw, passionate, honest and it rocks. It's just the right time and we're all excited!”

Stapp is putting his long-awaited second solo effort on hold indefinitely for the Creed reunion.

The tour’s opening date is Aug. 6 in Pittsburgh, which would mark the first time the band will perform live since June 2004. The 42-city tour will crisscross the country, making stops in Philadelphia on Aug. 13, Boston on Aug. 18, Chicago on Aug. 30, Atlanta on Sept. 11, Dallas on Sept. 22, Denver on Oct. 3, before finishing up in Nashville on Oct. 14.

Interested fans can now register to receive Creed news and updates on the band’s Web site, which is also streaming a reunion teaser video on its front page.

Check back later for more updates. We'll post them as soon as they’re announced.

Must be alot of money involved that he'll put up with Stapp

Just got the Creed news, it sickens me. I love Alter Bridge. Haven't been this pissed since Van Halen's bullshit.
