Can’t think of a single song that this Matteo guy has been involved in. Cool, he doesn’t use a pick!

I’ve been in the past a huge fan of advanced guitar players, with someone like Shawn Lane for example he wrote some great music. I just haven’t found anyone like that yet with the YouTube era.

i dont know how to describe it.. i watch guys like Matteo and Oslo, and while they are incredible and i enjoy watching their short vids, im never compelled to go back and watch again.

Hard disagree

Marty injects real heart into what he’s playing and it shows. I don’t think he cares about being technically more of a wow factor than the guy next to him. He just wants to make music. Even when he was younger he was like this. I imagine only under the pressure of the young gun, Varney days did he feel competitive.
Matteo has technique but nothing he played melodically spoke to me. Not a contest though. He seems like a hell of a nice guy and I hate that he nullifies all my self pity about having short fingers. Guys who look like they can play it in their sleep bore me emotionally. They look like they’re thinking about if they have time to cook later or should order in, while they’re playing.

Another seemingly nice guy who’s ridiculously flawless, technically but rarely grabs me with what he plays is that English kid, Chris Buck. All my fav’s can clam a little or really dance on the edge of falling apart but this new school of perfection and a note never out of place, just doesn’t engage me beyond 30 seconds of “wow, he’s really good”.
