I know it was 12 years ago but may i ask if you think those straight/slant cabs are still available? If so where to order them?
Not a clue but if I was guessing probably not since Gibson bought out Meas. I would suggest asking a sales rep for Mesa. Thats who I ordered mine thu all those years ago.

We had some of this discussion a while back about slant vs. straight and dialing in an amp. I think it turned into a big shit-fest. More often than not, with straight cabs a guy will be dialed in much brighter than need be. If you are playing on a 3 or 4 foot shallow stage, the peeps in front are getting pelted with the excess top end because you can't really tell it while standing. You almost have to get on your knees to hear what is happening. A slant will help you out in this regard and in general for hearing yourself as long as you are near the cab. As someone mentioned, mic'd and the FOH, there won't be any difference. If you have road cases for your heads, sitting your cabs up on these will remedy that, or some sort of riser. Someone mentioned Adam Jones, and you will always see his straight cab on risers. You can try those "dispersion bra's" or whatever they call them too.

I miss this guy

Thank you for the help, since then fortunately i have found one. Its as rare here as it can get (i live in Hong Kong) so its a kinda miracle that one popped up out of a sudden. It’s from ‘97.

I like both. But I never think about buying a slant. That said, i would grab that one for 500

I have 2 straights, Marshall and Soldano.
Zero need, but the Mesas have that sound they do.

They're those V30s. I've had all the V30s. 2 of the same V30s can sound about as different as 2 different types, like UK vs China vs Marshall vs Mesa. They all sound like V30s tho.

So true.

Yeah.. I agree. It's tough when you only have 1 or 2 cabs or try one in a different space or try two cabs days apart. The past few months I've assembled a ridiculous amount of cabs. In this pic going top to bottom: '14 MIC V30s, '03 UK V30s, X-Pattern '02 UK / ?? MIC V30s, '02 UK V30MFs, '12 UK V30s, '02 V30s, X-Pattern '24 UK V30s / Greenbacks, '08 MIC V30s, '09 UK V30s, '06 UK V30s, X-Pattern '04 V30s / DV77s and not pictured I had another Marshall Mode Four Straight with Chinese V30s and an ENGL with Chinese V30s.

Even in the same cab each speaker sounds a little different if you mic it up individually. Even amongst all my PPC412s, they all sound slightly different. Not better or worse, just different. I have two PPC412's with 2009 UK V30s and they both sound a bit different. What changes it more drastically is if it's on the floor, middle or top. I used to be a stickler for "UK ONLY" speakers, but at this point I don't think it matters. My Chinese V30 cabs sound just as great, if not better. I have concluded that I hate slant cabinets though, I even had a slant PPC412 with Chinese V30s, but it was horribly bright and brittle.

Thank you for coming to my ted-talk.
