This is of my experience with the Roadster's channel 4 on modern, which corresponds to the Recto channel 3. Do not overdo the bass if you want tight thump.
I occasionally use my GE-7 with a frown curve to boost and tighten but it really isn't necessary... it's just icing on the cake for me for metal. I usually leave it off.
actually the closest thing with the tight thump is just like you've recommended, i did high at around 3,mid around 11 and bass around 9 o'clock and presence around 3 in which sometimes its a bit ear piercing, but that just don't tighten it enough that is what confused me,at first i thought it lacks of treble and too much low end for the 6l6 but after changing the tubes to E34l i fpunf it helps but still shaggy
and yes I've tried the boss ge 7 at the loop and it sound a bit thin and kinda lifeless sounding
