mesa dual rectifier stack vs marshall jcm8002203 and 1960b cab for pop punk

which is better for a pop punk/emo type of tone. i know producers like jerry finn blended them but if that’s not an option what is better

IMO in almost every case a Marshall is a more appropriate amp than a Rectifier for any punk style. They’ve got more openness, kerrang and snarl.
I think Rectos are much more fitting for hardcore and metal.
Get an 800, boost it, and tear off faces.

What about a recto on the orange mode with a tubescreamer, I think it could do that tone very well. Rectifiers are very dynamic amps too. They don't need kerrang, they have grind and top end rattle. A lot more versatile than a jcm800.

Sure, that would sound great as well.
Although I think Marshall’s kerrang, snarl and bite better compliment the spirit and attitude of punk better than any Mesa will.
And Recto orange is one of my favorite tones ever.

This. Lower the gain, lower the bass, bring up the mids, treble, and presence, then crank the master up to at least halfway, but optimately about 3/4 and your golden. It sounds even better with EL34's on the silicon rectifier setting, but I recommend upgrading the screen grid resistors to 5w blocks if you plan on running it this way. The stock 2 watt resistors are fine for 6L6's, but can only handle EL34's for so long before they fry and take some tubes with them.

Truthfully, I reach for my old 2204 and boost it with my Wizard Leopard for most punk or hardcore I play. Pissed off and punchy!
