will a mesa dual rectifier sound noticeably different with 1960a cab compared to 4x12 mesa cab

A lot of metal bands ran that setup back in the day, because someone put a DR on their credit card & 1960 cabs were $250 on every street corner. Never found it to be a great sounding combo, but I heard a few players kind of make it work.

Mesa cabs handle that thunderous low end much better.

Personally I like it better, but I am more of a 90s metal guy, so I want that mid scooped chunk out of it.

Meshuggah's Destroy Erase Improve is that combo, and that is top tier tone.

Yeah you could definitely get close with a good UK or Mesa branded V30

Avatar Speakers have Chinese V30s for 95 bucks. They sound pretty damn good compared to my UK ones I have to say. Great price and a lot of value. They also only have 16 ohms.

They also make a clone of a V30 for not a whole lot and 87 bucks and these are MIA/Made in USA. So these aren't bad if you are in a budget and describe like a V30 but without the big mid hump.
