Metallica at the Grammys...

As stiff as the performance back in the late 80's grammy performance for IJFA.

The Antarctica thing was cool, this was just dumb way to get on the stage. They should enjoy their cash and stay away from this foolishness. Almost as bad as Dave Grohl inserting himself as a jammer with everybody.

It's like a song from that shitty album they did with the symphony.

Should have let Ringo play drums......

And Kirk cant afford a tuner ?

Sounded like shit-tuh.....
I see what you did there. Nice work.lol

That was a real clip? I thought it was one of those ones where some guy dubs some shit over a video. If that is real, it is pretty pathetic.

Kirks outta tune with the keyboards.

After 40 years you'd think he knows how to use a tuner, he's tone deaf .... lol.

30+ years of that song and it still bores the hell outta me.

Would rather listen to a Flute player in tights or [his] guitarist anyway ... :D

For a group of 50 year old men, it was good. They could have left Ding Dong the piano player home though. That was fucking annoying. Jame's vocals are getting very weak and have been for the last 5 years. Lars' feet don't move like they used to. Kirk is Kirk.

Haters gonna hate though.......

The piano was...whatever. Could have done without it. The band was on FIRE.

God, I love that fucking song.

I'm sorry, but I don't know what you were listening to. "On fire"? They sounded like a total and utter mess, in every regard. Hetfield was the only one who came out of that with ANY credibility still intact whatsoever. Ulrich and in particular Hammett need to hang their heads in shame.

Absolute dog shit.

FWIW, I too love that song. Just not here.

Aside from the piano and Kirks 'interlude' solos, I thought it was great. Het's vocals were good, the guitar tones were good, Lars even played pretty well.

Maybe not on 'fire' but pretty damn good, in my opinion.

So I heard that the tone was all snax fx 2... is that true?

Yes all Axe-Fx II........the Axe certainly can't be blamed for being out of tune, bum notes & a bad mix.

I've seen Megadeth live with all Axe-II & they sounded awesome!

... not bad overall me thinks...
Yah, not bad for a bunch of washed up pathoids.

Dood it's all the skank fx fault. Just as it's all hurricane Katrina's fault for all the resulting deaths.

Couldn't disagree more. Het's vocals were weak and boring and at times completely missed the mark (what was that high pitched thing he was trying?) Kirk's guitar sounded anemic and out of tune...either that or he missed the notes (especially apparent in the intro). The song was a trainwreck...and not just the piano player.

This is kind of like being in a museum and a large group is looking at the Picasso exhibit and a washed-up starving artist dude in the center states at every piece, ".....this guy sucks and is a hack, he can't even paint in a straight line and his use of black is horrendous!" :D

Some people have pretty low standards for a live performance. Het's vocals were mediocre at best, Kirk's playing was worse than a 15 year old's (I say that because One was one of the first songs I learned 23 years ago) and his tone was absolute shit. Terribly clean tone, terrible lead tone. I loved Metallica growing up, but this is just awful.

Yeah, except that the Picasso still looks good after several hundred years.

I read this last night and was still cracking up this morning
Surprisingly effective blend of intolerance, music critique, and comedy

dooh! :D

I thought the gutiars were weaker compared to the usual tone I expect from them and then I saw Fractal tweeted that they went FRFR at the Grammys...

Maybe they loaded the wrong IR's, or had the wrong footswitch, or the grammy hall didn't have CLR's.
Perhaps they updated firmwarez right before the show to get the 97% more real digital content and it changed their presets.

Maybe the fractal guy who teaches bands how to use the snax was over in Europe helping Edge?

Didn't they have these units in Antarctica? Cold weather penguin sabotage..

Should have got the Ultra
