SOOOOO Back on topic... Is George having any luck reviving the site or is it too far gone? Does he have any intentions of bringing it back or is he done hosting it?

AFAIK, the work is ongoing to bring the site back up. I cannot imagine the amp building community without it! If we could get back on topic here, perhaps VG would post updates... If I had been banned for 500 lifetimes, I would be more worried about the site content coming back so I could access it then anything else!

Hopefully George is able to bring the forum back with the content intact. So many incredible contributions from
so many people over the years. The level of dedication that those guys have in dissecting every possible avenue
towards getting the Brown Sound is absolutely unreal, and that was just the EVH section of the board.

All of that collaboration and collective body of knowledge would not have been possible without George and his forum.

The SIR thread is the epitomy of guys working together, tweaking, listening to get the #36, #39, etal. Sure the thread has gone in circles a few times! Check out page 140 on the way back!

Knowledge of vintage Marshall sounds, speakers, cabs... everything!

As far as the VH1 thing, as DF said, "you are chasing a ghost"... 1176 comp/limiting to make it sound pissed off? Reamping thru reverb room? All of these can take a stock Marshall and make the perceived gain push the limit. I have built several amps that should fit the spec, and they all sound a bit different in this regard... I like certain vintage pedal (tweaked to almost be transparent, with just a little extra) to add dynamics on certain tracks/parts... but, dont like it one others? Who says every track was recorded exactly the same way? It is the discussion and the trying things that educates us and gives perspective!
