just finished getting ready to go to the live blues open mic night....just a shortcut through the forest and we're there

Norwegian black metal band Immortal. : r/InMetalWeTrust

:D

That would be the best blues night ever

abbath is a monster and they have some insanely rad records

Pure holocaust is perfect Norwegian black metal

Sons of Northern Darkness is quintessential black thrash

BTW, I'm fucking weird. When I was a kid, the very first three albums I ever bought, I bought together at a Target. Bush's "Sixteen Stone", TLC's "Waterfalls", and Garth Brooks' "In Pieces"
Haha

Woah, that did surprise me coming from you.

My first single was Jump by Kris Kross. Anyone remember that song? Nirvana and later Green Day, were what got me started in taking music seriously. I never got into Nickelback or Creed.

My first music I can remember buying
45 Paul M band on the run (was really young)
LPs Metallica Kill em all, MOP,
Cassets Slayer RIB, SOH, Metallica AJFA, Pantera CFH, VDP, Bad religion No control
First CD I ever bought was 2 at once Sex pistols Nevermind and Ministry Mind is a terrible thing. The next month was Social D self titled 1990. Almost forgot some Ozzy, ZZ top, Dio. Can't remeber them all now. I started working a lot around that time and didn't buy a whole lot more after that. Listened to a lot of the classic rock and talk stations at work.

First music I ever bought was a 45. Elvis. Hound Dog on the A side and Don't Be Cruel on the B side. Wish I still had it. It's worth a good bit today.

For the record I was about 6 or 7.

I think I did the knock off scam version of Columbia. “12 CD’s for $10” or some shit like that. My dads face was priceless when he got the real bill.

I don’t remember all of those albums but for sure Britney and DMX were in there. Really enjoyed how the Britney cd came with the fold out poster. “Yeah babe, my loneliness is killing me too”

Honestly I thought Millennials were associated more with Nu Metal, but it does seem like we had a lot of variety of pure shit identity crisis. I’m totally ok with J’nco’s coming back though, gives me a chuckle and warms this old retarded heart. Just not Stomp-clap-simp.

I have been a hermit a long time, what the heck is stomp clap? I didn't recognize a single act in that video thankfully.

I never really pursued any new music after about 1994. I just dove deeper into the 60's, 70's and 80s. Scorpions, UFO/MS, Led zep, Van Halen, Judas Preist, Dio, etc. Even now, I just listen to the old school. I just don't connect with newer stuff. To be fair, I haven't really tried either.

This was what the vast majority of "hot girls" and the dudes that orbit them were listening to

These were the most popular songs of the era, they were the annoying shit on the radio when you went into target or starbucks

ah, those are two places i was never in so that makes sense

Yeah, only knew the Little Lion Man song, which I didn't think was that bad. But what do I know?

that period of time was the whole Limewire and blog era where you could find and download literally anything, i was paying no attention to any mainstream pop music

You beer snobs need to get off your high horse. Tell me you can go 15 hours on a saturday drinking that thick shit.

Tried and true, predictable and stable.

A fine PISSNER beer.

Regardless of being a millennial I have agree with this video, & these statements.. It actually depresses me thinking about that era of music.. Everything went to shit..

I would like to take you gentlemen to our local hipster coffee shop so you can give them a piece of your mind… Better yet I’ll sign you guys up for the open mic night.

Sometimes a little is too much whether it's Korn or K-pop.
@VonBonfire you leave Korn out of this… Ok well they did go to shit after Head left.. That’s my opinion but just for that: Now your just

Man, my best bud drummer I essentially grew up with was a ridiculous drummer as a teen, went to Berklee and attached himself to Mike Mangini the 2 years he was there, double bass labs, independence labs, he was a total prog metal nerd then and comes out of Berklee as you’d expect; a fucking phenomenal technically capable drummer.

Dude joins a band playing this kind of music, moves to Nashville and in 2 weeks he’s playing a suitcase for a kick drum with a bunch of kids who faked being poor for a good 2 years doing there whole ‘roots/Americana’ thing.

They did a little East coast tour and came back up to where we were from, my buddy tells us immediately “Hey, don’t offer to buy anyone anything, they’re going to start pooling their change together acting like they’re broke, it’s literally an act, they’ve all got their parent’s credit cards, I’m making stupid money doing this tour”

He stuck it out because they were throwing money at him but some of the stories we’d hear about them, well….anyone who fakes being poor as if it gives them some kind of merit is a fucking moron, so you can imagine the kind of stories that’d come along with that.

Ha! Not a snob in any way and I don't intend to come off as one. I haven't even had a beer in over a year! Just try the German syles. Most American and Mexican beer is modeled after the OG German stuff. The alcohol content is usually higher, so you will likely drink less. They focus on quality, not watering down for max profit.

The hefeweizens can seem little heavy by flavor, but still subtle compared to the hipster stuff.

Haha, I was just joking. I tried a German Pissner Light. Hated it. Yeah I got in the habit on Saturday to pound beers. I lose my fucking mind in the Winter up here in New England, no fucking sun for 8 months. So I have turned into a drunk, on Saturdays and Sundays only. I can't drink during the week. Can't enjoy it with work looming over my head.

Miller Lite is a delicious beer. I also enjoy Miller High Life when the weather is hot. Coors Light is also great. Coors Extra Gold is a lager but it was also fantastic, it's just a little harder to find now. The one light beer I despise is Bud Light and not because of the political stuff, it just tastes like a sick version of Pabst Blue Ribbon. I like regular Budweiser but bud light..... 🤮. My regular jam these days has been Modelo especial when I'm home or Shiner Blonde when I'm gigging. There are a few Texas brewed pilsners from smaller makers that are pretty good too, Pearl Snap comes to mind.

The crazy part is EVERY single part of that fashion element of it, 100% absolutely comes through in the music itself.

Like they all have a banjo or ukulele, a horn section, they are trying to grab at "authenticity" from every direction, but it's all fake.

Like they were trying to copy and paste the aesthetic onto their person, and onto the music itself - and ALL of it was completely insincere and awful
Those are all those fartisnal IPA/seltzer snobs who's top 10 Spotify Playlist consist of "oh oh" indie trash bands with foot stomping, pseudo-banjo barnyard wedding summer drinking anthems.

I recently learned about a band called brokencyde. I havent watched the video yet ill get to it. I just wanted to mention them.

Ai music and brokencyde are like. The two things that I just cant even.

As a millennial I don't know who associates millennials primarily with this music.

Nu metal, emo, pop punk, hip hop are all far more popular "millennial" genres. I guess if you want to make a joke about it then yea totally, but if you're actually saying this is millennial music it's really not. It's hipster music. There's a larger portion of millennials that made fun of hipsters than there were hipsters.
