minimum wattage for band practice?

Too loud for any room. Too loud for your ears. Too loud to discern the tone you are chasing.
Your concern should be about headroom and tone and not about volume.
My neighbors across the street can hear my Ironball at 1 watt through double-glazed glass.
Unless I'm gigging outdoors I will never buy anything with more power than 25 watts, and that's being generous.

Yes I agree.
Any 30w+ is good for band practice. Some lower wattage amps are also good for that application.

That being said I still prefer 100w heads because they sound so good, so articulate, so tight... Bu it all depends the sounds you want.
