It worked for me. I'm not gonna beef with members over EVH gear even if their info sucks or is what I view as wrong. Bowing up on him and insulting the dude hasn't worked, he just pushes back that much harder. He is as good as dishing it out at he is at taking it. That's the wrong person to tangle with over petty arguments IMO. Not worth the time.
That's just being complacent. It's a big reason we got to where we are with shitlib politics; being complacent and not pushing back on it. If it were cut off from the start we might be in a much better place.
Let me put it another way. Pushing back on someone when they are spewing bad info helps curtail that bad info being passed to those who are new to gear and don't know any better. And it helps to stop the spread. Granted this example is more dangerous than guitar gear, but there's a similar situation in the woodworking world. People like Kid with little experience spout horrible 100% incorrect advice that could result in newcomers who are unaware losing fingers, having life altering injuries, and even death. When I first started out I had a few close calls by not knowing some of the advice was inherently wrong. The sad part is this "wisdom" is still floating out there and being spread. Youtube has made it worse. There's a conscious effort by knowledgeable experts to try to slow it down so people don't get hurt.
Like I said, the woodworking is on the extreme side because serious injuries can result. When I see someone digging in with such horrid info and incorrect forum wisdom I think back to some of those close calls I had because of that. Experienced people will recognize it as shit, but newcomers won't. I don't want to see a newcomer basically get fucked from the beginning. The more complacent we are about it the more this type of forum wisdom will continue to permeate and the higher the chance a beginner will get fucked right from the start.
And Kid is not good at dishing it out or taking it. About the only thing he is good at is backing himself into a corner and making himself look like a fool by resorting to nonsensical gibberish and ad hominem attacks when asked to explain himself. Kind of like a few OTC libtards when they say something stupid and have no ground to stand on when pressed to elaborate.
That's a good point but I'm not interested in publicly discussing orthodox theology with non-orthodox people anymore because it's like arguing spelling with someone who can't even read. If someone asked me and he chimed in with bad info I call it bad info and move on. If someone wants to take his word on it that's not within my control.
I wasn't talking about having a general discussion about Orthodoxy with someone. I was talking about dealing with someone who operates like Kid.
Let's say this was an an Orthodox forum. Someone with little to no experience with Orthodoxy; but who presented themselves as an expert, kept rolling into threads going on and on and on misquoting and misrepresenting the Orthodox bible, church and teachings. On top of that everything they were saying are misrepresentations of old that people have been trying to correct for a long time. Would you just say nothing or maybe say "no you're wrong" once and move on? Or would you feel compelled to push back and show this guy doesn't know what he's talking about so his constant "wisdom" perpetuating multiple threads wouldn't lead a newcomer astray right from the start?
This is the whole point of giving Kid the crap he's brought on himself. This forum wisdom needs to be slowed down and people continuing to perpetuate it need to be shown they don't know what they're talking about. The effort is to cut off newcomers from being lead astray. Like I presented would you want someone joining the Orthodox church to be lead astray right off the bat by someone with zero clue?
