I was a MTS Fiend back in the day! :D

Any of the old guys from that Grailtone Board can assure this.
owned 5 MTS amps. 2 Lynch boxes....Egnater Mod 100 and Mod 50 and a Custom RM100.
Tons of custom modules.
It was fun but in my opinion it just got too pricey with all the modules.
Let me put it this way......when I sold my last RM100 and modules....I had enough money to buy a Diezel VH4 and still have money left over.
But this amp/module setup is a TWEAKERS PARADISE for sure!!!
Yes, I remembered very well. Didn't you modded your RM100 with Mercury transformer as well?
I would only sell my MTS gear if I'm buying a Diezel myself, ;) even though EVH is my main amp now, I still use the MTS stuff.

Yup.....upgraded the RM100 with the Mercury OT....
It was a fun amp...good tones.....actually toyed with the idea of going back MTS...
but my modded Recto is really kicking ass these days. :D

I think a lot of the mediocre reviews are based on the stock modules. Modded modules offered by Salvation are stripped to a bare platform and handwired to custom specs. The results are stunning.

BTW, I've had 5 of the mts with no issues whatsoever, unlike my 3 Marshalls DSL & TSL which were constantly in the shop.
Perhaps the earlier amps from 10 years ago had issues, but the more recent ones have been rock solid for me.

Crankrayhanky - I find it funny that you keep making this comparison with cheap Chinese shit. New Marshall's ie. DSL/TSL are made in China on probably the same assembly line as the Randall stuff you claim is better just run through on a different day. Not trying to be a dick or argue with you but really come on. I have old JCM 800's and 1970's JMP's and there is no way that the failure rate on them is anywhere near the failure rate on the Randall stuff. Look into the arching issue on the MTS tube board or even the simple fused Midi board that when you plug in your pedal after the unit is powered up blows and needs to be replaced? Not a simple push pull but dis-assembly of the amp and desoldering of the fuse and replacement. I will still be playing my Marshall's in 20 years if I'm still alive with some maintenance of course, do you really believe the MTS will hold up that long? I seriously doubt it. For anyone thinking you are going to tour with an RM 100 you better have more than 1 backup and a real good tech. I have three of these heads and have been all through them trust me they will fail. I am not knocking them I just want people to be aware of the issues. Under the same screen name on the Randall MTS site I have posted lots of information on failures others posted. Find it read it and believe it.

Of course as with anything YMMV. Just be aware of the reality of it. Obviously I like the stuff for what it is but it will never replace my real hardware.

In my experience this is true. I probably would have kept mine if it were more reliable. I've used Peavey's for many years, and never had any issues. I've had the same experience with Marshall's as well.

I dig my Randall MTS gear. Think I'm gonna sell off most of my regular heads since I'm just dicking around being a bedroom rockstar on occasion. The mods get me close enough for that.

Hey, good thing you put in that disclaimer, otherwise it could be misinterpreted. Just a note that I am talking about my own experience Randall 5-5 solid; Marshall 0-3. Yes, I am sure your classic Marshalls are the bees knees, but I'm not sure how that made its way into the topic? That's the opposite- 1 great sound, whereas mts people are into for the variety. Arcing, midi boards, I'm sure you had a tough go of it. I can only speak for my own experience...chances are, you'll find issues with almost every amp out there on that price level.
I bought in for Gigmods and later on Salvation. Sacred Groove also makes some jaw dropping mods. Current Amp is going on 4+ years so far.

I had my RM100 for 6years+ now. I did have some issues with the amp breaking down, mostly dumb shit but I did have to get it repair couple times. Since then the thing was rock solid, I gigged with it many times. it is what it is, and for the amount of tones I can get from it, hard to beat.

Sacred Groove's MK22 is more Marshall than any Marshall I have ever owned/played. It sounds great at any volume.
2 RM100 heads played daily for almost 3 years and going strong. :)

MTS cracktone is what suits me best! I can try different TUBE tones at a fraction!!!
Beware, it is called an addiction for a reason. If you do find that one tone is for you
I say great!! That is really what its all about. A tonal learning curve on the cheap. Some
of us just cant help but trying to collect them like trading cards and ex gf's!!
